I'm preparing for an interview and was getting stuck on the following qeustions. What are some your opinions to the following questions?

The 14-year-old daughter of a good friend comes into your office asking for birth control. What are your ethical obligations in this situation and how would you respond?

Your friends 14 yr. old daughter asks you for birthcontrol pills OUTSIDE of your clinic? Do you tell her parents?

What is the one thing that you want us to remember you by after you leave?

A child shows up to the ER with no insurance. What would you do?

1. Inside the office, she's my patient. If I felt that OCP was appropriate (no risk factors, etc), I'd prescribe it. I would do the same for a stranger or a friend (or friend's child).

2. I'd tell her to make an appointment.

3. Your choice.

4. Treat him/her. Possibly call social work to see about eligibility for state programs.

1. This depends on the laws in your state. In AZ, anyone down to 13 can be treated for sexual stuff without telling parents.

2 +3 This is your call.

4. By law, anyone showing up to an ER must be treated. It's a federal law.

Not true. Such child has to be assessed, but not necessarily treated.
