What are some of the ethical questions that you have received in interviews with dental schools?

"What was one ethical situation that you have been in and explain what you did/learned from it."

"Witnessing a cheater and what you did/ would do if you saw one."

wow how are you supposed to answer these "deep" questions so quickly while you are in the hot seat?

I read in another thread that a few years ago UCLA gave the following essay prompt:

"Do you think it would be ethical to inform another student of this essay prompt prior to his interview? Why or why not?"

Yeah that's the point, to see how straight your moral compass is lol.

What would you do if you saw your class mate cheating on a test?

What would you do if you found out a top class mate was doing drugs?

What would you do if you found out in the 3rd year of school that a class mate had gotten in without taking one of the pre-reqs?

Dont just look at these type of questions as right or wrong, they can be good problem solving sessions with the interviewers. Very few people will sell out their best friend at the drop of a dime. I personally walked through the steps i would take with the person "cheating." When the interviewers wanted more they would add a new twist or more details on the situation. Roll with the punches and be honest most of us have good moral compasses, dont be afraid to take a little time and think after you are asked the question.

I remember this was a pretty good thread on the ethics question about a year or two ago.

Has a lot of old school sdn posters like viciviper, futuredent, and alanan... good times. Unfortunately they are no longer active on the forum, they have succumbed to dental school...
