Curious to see whether people think interviews will be online this cycle again or will we be ready to return to in person...

Also when do we think a final decision would need to be made by? June?

Ask 150+ schools while the pandemic ebbs and flows with good but incomplete vaccine rollouts that suffer setbacks (eg J&J) with many that may plan/start remote but move to in-person during the August to February interview season and you will have your answer. There is no way of knowing what each school will do, when they will decide to do it, and no guarantee that it will change during the course of the season.
Most schools that have said anything so far have said they will be remote, but definitely not all. Many schools have not yet made a decision.

As much as I love you and acknowledge your wise counsel has been extremely helpful to me so far in my journey, I am going to respectfully disagree with you on one point. Schools that have put off making a decision so far have done so for a specific reason. That reason is that they absolutely do NOT want to make changes midstream due to the inherent element of potential unfairness that would introduce into the cycle.

I agree that those schools that have not yet made a decision are watching the ebbs and flows. I disagree that they will change once things get going. The smart money is on most schools being virtual for at least one more cycle.

My answer to OP who is looking for an absolute and definitive answer on something that is wholly out of their control is a speculation that does nothing but add fear, worry, and stress. It certainly should not be any reason or impact in their application strategy
Correct!! My plan has been to assume they will be in person, and be pleasantly surprised, if I actually receive IIs, if it turns out I don't have to travel.

Likely to be a mix of both. I know some schools which are preparing to go back to in-person starting this summer, some schools which are staying virtual, and most schools are still waiting to see how things will progress. My school hasn't yet decided whether we will have a white coat ceremony at orientation in three months, let alone how the next admissions cycle will be. I'm sure every school has talked and thought about it, but the school really doesn't have to decide on a format until their first invites go out and there are more pressing matters at the moment.

Prepare your finances as if they will all be in-person and don't worry about it.

I thought my question was pretty clearly laid back and conversational.... Just wanted general opinions. I never demanded a deadline or anything

It’s crazy you can’t post on here without being attacked 😂

Thanks for the wisdom to those who answered. Was just curious....

I appreciate this response

Please reread my original post. reread agin if you still view it this way. now reread a 3rd time if you still feel your aggressive response was needed

Again, was just seeing what people thought. never asked for a definitive answer. clearly came off as laid back in the post. get some fresh air and relax

Have you taken the MCAT yet? If not, watch out for the CARS section. Gonnif was responding to someone else.
