Since the interview process is going to cost a fortune, I thought it might be helpful if everyone posted the best deals they've found on hotels for their interviews. I typically use Priceline and here are the deals I've set up so far.

Christiana: Fairfield Inn Christiana - 2* - $26 + tax (via Priceline)
--Near the hospital, free WiFi, free breakfast

Pittsburgh: Wyndham University Place - 3* - $46 + tax (via Priceline)
--Next door to the hospital

26 dollars?!? Does that come with free bed bugs?

Probably so, although the price quoted on the hotel's website is $129.

Priceline is often pretty cheap--I've stayed in 4* hotels in places like Whistler BC, Santa Fe, and New Orleans for around $40 using them.

Priceline has pretty good stuff, just look at the actual website to take a look at the hotel, where it's located, ammenities...etc. Then make your decision to see if it's worth it.

Doesn't Chrsitiana pay for your hotel?
I know they put students up for the whole month if you rotate there. I guessed they paid for the interviewees too. No?
I have yet to get an interview there, so I have no idea.

Any where else pay for the rotation?

😛 Priceline rocks! I priceline religiously. Cars, hotels, flights. It's money.

york also pays for your hotel to interview.

I have found many will put you up somewhere- Grand rapids offers a B and B, Kalamazoo, Maine, Mayo, Rochester, Geisinger...anywhere else?

Akron Gen and Akron City and Ohio State paid for my hotels.

Both Akron Gen and Akron City went a little overboard and got us hotels with hot tubs, etc.

Remember though, TANSTASFL - There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

Ask yourself why you're getting a "free ride" at some places. Is it a newer program? Smaller program? Don't be paranoid, just be cautious.

OSU paid for your hotel?? Either it's not offered this year or OSU doesn't love me as much 😀

I'm 99% sure, because I was joking with the PD about it because the hotel was really bad and that's too bad for a program especially if they're fronting all of that money.

They didnt offer free hotels last yr at Ohio State either. Probably mikecwru ruined it for everyone 😀

Priceline for hotels..

For rental cars I found I do better checking orbitz or something then going online and searching for a coupon online and getting it right from the site of whoever I rented from. For whatever reason I did well with thrifty..

Scott & White/Texas A&M. We put our interviewees up at the Hilton Express across the street from the hospital.

Take care,
Jeff

UNC doesn't pay for hotels, but we do have residents that will volunteer a guest room up for your interview....
