I have 2 interview invitations but I am supposed to retake my DAT in the upcoming week. I'm planning on going through with taking it because I've already been preparing for it/paid for it. Is this a bad idea? If I happened to not do as well (praying I do well of course) can dental schools take back their invitation for interview?

Honestly, I don't have too much experience on interviews. But if you have 2 interview invitations this early in the application process, that must mean your application is pretty solid with your current DAT scores. So I'm just curious why you decided to retake and why so soon? I personally would hold off on retaking it if you feel like those schools that contacted you are realistic options for you. Just my opinion.

They may have chosen to interview based on your retaking. What do you say when they ask about the retake?

I'm kind of in the same boat. I didn't really expect to receive interviews with my current scores, but I have. The thing is, like you, I'm already kind of invested, but I haven't paid for it/signed up for a date yet. I didn't indicate on my aadsas that I was retaking nor did I tell schools that I was retaking because I was so unsure for so long. The reason I've been holding back against signing up is because the majority of schools are starting to review now and will send out more interview invites mid-late augustish, so I was hoping to just see what happens with my current scores but still studying for it at the same time. I would say that retake it as long as you're confident that you know the material and know you can do better. I'm not sure if schools can rescind their interview invitations, so I guess that's something you'll have to contact schools about individually.

Just out of curiosity, what are your stats and which schools sent the interviews?
