Interview Invitations Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Claymore,

UNC sent out letters earlier this week. You should hear from them very soon. UVA was the first school I heard from. I interview there next Friday. You might want to call them if you haven't heard from them yet.

Hope this helps!

I am in NY this week for my Albert Einstein interview (Bronx) this Thursday (dinner Wednesday night) and will update as soon as it's over. Was just checking the thread and wanted to post.

P.S.
Is the guy who is offering his home for Cleveland Clinic interviews still doing so? So great of you.

i've heard from JHU. and it wasn't good news. by emai. rejected before the dean's letter is released!

Hi! I'm new to the forum. I was wondering how long after programs have received the CAS materials do they start sending out interview invitations. My CAS was released just last week and I haven't received that many invitations. Do you think interview spots have already been filled out?

Hi mscA13...
It is dependent on the programs.

For example, Northwestern (who I just talked to a few min. ago) said that they have now offered all of the interview spots they were going to offer.

Michigan (who I just talked to as well) still are offering interviews as of today.

As people start getting overloaded on interviews, people will drop ones they've already scheduled in order to accomodate new invites. For instance, I dropped one this week and I'm considering dropping another one.

All you can really do, though, is sit tight and relax!

You'll be fine.

Thank you for replying! I did get an interview for Northwestern last week, but I'm still waiting to hear from many of them... I guess I should be patient. Does anyone else know about any programs that are not offering any
more interviews?

So many of you have so many interviews lined up, that it might make others, like me 😱, shy to post the few interviews they get and therefore, we don't hear from all of the programs.

So I propose that no matter how many interviews you have, we should all post them, so that we all help each other.

A few places had emailed me asking for step 2 scores which I just got in Monday so hopefully I will hear from those places soon. Faxed results to programs on tues. The Tulane secretary said she was giving my app to the PD today. I don't know if they didn't bother to look at it without step 2 scores or just hadn't gotten to me yet.

Haven't heard from lots more.

Wow, they ask for this stuff? I haven't even set my Step 2 date yet. I just registered earlier this week and am waiting for the NBME to process my application.

By step 2 do you mean clinical skills?

I know that some programs require 2CS of foreign grads, so perhaps that's why not everyone was asked to furnish. I haven't had any additional material requests except for pictures or a CV.

Regarding Step 2 scores- I saw that U Penn wanted step 2 scores, according to their website. I didn't notice that with other programs I applied to.

Anyhoo, I emailed, and the coordinator at UPenn wrote back that step 2 was not necessary. I haven't heard or read of any programs caring about step 2 scores until that post. Hopefully not- b/c I am taking it in January!

I am sure the reason why I was asked was because of my poor performance on step 1.
I was asked for step 2 CK results since they knew I had taken the exam on the 15th of September. (in that little letter you are supposed to submit when you don't have the document yet). I made up for step 1 with step 2 CK so hopefully they will think so too.
2 of the programs offered me interviews within a few minutes of me faxing the results.

I sent my application around the same time but I think not hearing from them yet is not necessarily bad. They may just be sitting on your application in which I think it is really like wait list in my own limited experience and reading here.
Did you follow the suggestion of sending 1/3 of your applications to dream programs, 1/3 to not-as-dreamy but still great programs, and 1/3 to least desirable programs?

The wait could also simply mean that they have not yet come to your application to even make a decision!

I did send to great and not-so-great programs, I just called mayo jacksonville who told me they are still going through a lot of applications and didin't send the next batch of invitations..
we'll see, I guess I just have to wait ....this process is so stressful 😡
