Interview invites 2006

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is this JH or Bayview; and what are the dates?

Other possibility is an insider. Stanford invited all internal applicants on November 1, quite a bit before sending out external invitations.

In my utter anal nature, I was just checking last year's interview invites.... Moral of the story. Keep hope alive everyone! A lot of people last year stated that if you either rotated at a school, were a member of that school, were an IMG who worked in a lab at that school, or have some other connection (I believe last year someone did research at NIH and was offered at Hopkins interview earlier than others) than you may be offered an interview soon. In addition, if the person applied categorical or prelim. Also, as the previous poster hinted, someone last year called one of the top programs and found out that interviews are offered based upon region from where you apply and completion. So, just because some people have been offered, don't lose hope! 😉

so far, boston u, ut southwestern, cornell

cedars today...interviews are still coming out
invites: UCLA oliveview, UCLA harbor, UCI, USC, Santa Clara valley, Kaiser Santa Clara, Kaiser LA
Pending: UCLA, UCD, Stanford
rejects: none yet

I agree with you. Also, sometimes the whole thing seems a little random. For example some of the programs I applied to that I considered safeties haven't gotten back to me yet, although stronger programs like Duke and Columbia got back to me within a day or two of submitting my initial application and 1 out of 4 letters in. So, the moral of the story is don't be discouraged if others are getting interviews and you don't have it yet - as long as you haven't received a rejection, you are still in the running. 🙂

I agree with the other posts, it is not yet time to get discouraged - it's still so early. The Hopkins email even said "We have just finished a round of screening applications" - just says "a" round, not first round. Who knows how that round is picked?!

Invites: Hopkins, Penn, Baylor, U Wash, Columbia, Cornell, Mount Sinai, UTSW, U Mich
Waiting: NYU, Albert Einstein, Yale, USCF, BWH, MGH

Just got WashU today. I now have UofMN, Abbott Northwestern, HCMC, Mayo, Yale, Univ Washington, and WashU. I'm waiting on many more.

first and hopefully only rejection...UWash🙁
But I really didn't expect to get an invite so not too heart broken🙂
Congrats to everyone these are some great interviews!!

Hopkins Bayview.

Their personalized invitation is definitely a nice touch.

California Pacific Medical Center in San Fran today.

So far:
Cal Pacific
UCLA
UCLA-SFV/Olive View
Kaiser-Nor. Cal/San Fran
UCSD (Categorical and PSTP)
USC
Stanford
Yale
Boston U
Scripps-Green
Santa Barbara Cottage

and three family practice programs: Columbia, UCLA-Santa Monica/Mid-Valley, and Kaiser-Woodland Hills.

(as you can probably tell, I'm a Californian and aside from leaving the state for med school, I wouldn't mind coming back for residency)

FYI: I'm waiting to hear from a few others, but there's one program I called and found out that they just reviewed my app and would invite me but all of their invite slots have been reserved....they weren't expecting so many people to rsvp, so i'm "on hold"---if people cancel their interview there then I'll get an invitation. i applied to this program later than i did for the other programs, so for future applicants, i would use this example to suggest that you submit your application as early as possible, as some programs send out invites on a "rolling" basis, much like they did when we were all applying to med school.

Cal Pacific in San Fran today as well.

Mcindoe, how late did you apply to the program you mentioned? I'm a bit concerned about that as I submitted my app on 9/22, and haven't heard from some programs that I'm really interested in.

thanks

kinda curious if no news is bad news at this points.. others from my school have already heard (including those who submitted afterwards..). eek.

i applied to the program i mentioned on 10/22, whereas my app for almost all of the other programs was submitted on 9/29.

i should also mention to future applicants that this isn't a hard and fast rule, because i also didn't apply to scripps-green until 10/22 as well, but they invited me for an interview on 11/1. so if you apply late(r), it doesn't necessarily mean it will hurt your chances, especially at programs that don't start reviewing apps until the dean's letter is released on 11/1. plus, i've been told by more than one program that they review apps in all sorts of ways; some do it by first come, first serve...others will separate apps by school and evaluate them that way. many programs have told me that if i haven't heard from them by mid-november, then it's likely that i won't be hearing from them at all if you know what i mean. the one thing that's keeping me hopeful for a few programs i haven't heard from but many here have received invites is that i haven't received rejections from them while other have, so they're still holding on to my app for some reason. what that reason is, however, remains unknown.

For those of you with interviews at Penn, Yale and NYU... when was your application complete? I suppose that not hearing anything by this point probably is not good news (but not bad news either I hope)...

Mine was actually not submitted until the last week of October. I'm still waiting to hear back from a few places, but I got the Yale and Penn invites this week.

Wondering if there is a thread or website where current residents talk about their program. I know of scutwork.com, but there really aren't too many evals there. I'd like to know what the residents think if their respective programs. 😎

Would anyone with ULCA invite mind posting the interview dates here? Thanks!
