i switched to IM late, so i am just about to submit my application. you are not alone.

University of South Alabama yesterday... and my first rejection today from George Washington U.
 
I don't think it's too late to apply to IM. In fact, I would say anything before Nov. 1st is probably ok as many programs wait for the MSPE to be released anyway. I think people just recommend submitting as soon as possible so that you have the best possible opportunity to get the interview dates that you want before they fill up.

So, go ahead and apply!
 
I was wondering if everyone would be interested in posting some of their interview dates (like many of the surgery groups do) -- for planning purposes??

U of Kansas some time last week

Interviews are Mondays, Thursdays and occ Fridays Nov-Jan

I assume holliday weeks are exceptions
 
Does anybody know if the chair letter counts against our 4 letters in ERAS? Do I need to specify my chair letter to go to each program, or do schools automatically send them and they don't count against the max of 4 letters?

Alot of programs specify that you send the Chairperson letter and 2 LOR from IM department at your school or of an externship that you did.

yes your chairman letter counts as 1 of the 4 max letters. it isn't like the deans letter where it is automatically sent. and yes, you ahve to specify just like any other LOR
 
are you sure about that? because that's not what the chair of medicine at my school said. therefore, i have 3 or 4 letters marked for each school, AND the dean's AND the chairs letter
 
I already have my school chairperson IM letter and I put it as another LOR with the other 2 IM letter. In the letter Im sure it says that its from the Chairperson of the IM department.

Dont worry, programs know what letter is from the chairperson.

What did your chairperson say?

and also, if you have 4 letters marked for a school, how are you going to send in the Chairman letter?

Dean's letter is separate so there's no problem with that

University of Maryland on 10/2 by email and eras. They are interviewing on Tues & Thurs throughout Nov, Dec and Jan.
 
Hi All, just submitted early last week and only heard back from UIC so far.
Has anyone gotten interviews at Loyola, Rush, Northwestern or Uof C yet or do they all wait for the dean's letter?

So far they only have my ERAS application and board scores.

I know NW has also at least started sending out interview invites. Not sure about Loyola or Rush? But, I'm pretty sure U Chicago waits until November.

Also heard from Mayo-Rochester today.

I didn't realize so many programs would be interviewing in November. Now, I'm kind of wishing I didn't end up with a November sub-I. 😎
 
Loma Linda today

I've had 3 hits and my file is far from complete with my only letter in yet being a generic (I assume) chairman's letter.
 
University of Nebraska

They said they schedule interview "most days" Nov-Jan

More importantly, can I really go there if I've HATED Nebraska football my whole life???

Northwestern interview -- notified yesterday 10/3 by email & ERAS. Submitted my application (complete except MSPE) on 10/2.

Interview dates:
