I have three.

It's just when 5 rejects come in rapid fire along with another email asking for step 2 CK scores to be considered (I don't have them), it kinda takes the wind out of the sails.

I know people say you only need one to match, but the subtext to that statement is that you also need to have the charisma of a JFK or Barrack Obama.
 
Anyone with an MUSC invite for 12/12 willing to switch with me for the 1/9 date? I only have 3 interviews and 2 are on the same day, this is sooo wrong. Message me if you can!!!

To the one who is asking to switch dates.
I think there is a separate thread for that. You can try posting on there as well. Hope you get that sorted out. That really sucks to have 2 conflicting dates when interviews are so hard to come by.

Same here!! I got 4 derm rejections and the Cleveland clinic email saying send scores by Nov 30 which = rejection. This sucks. 🙁 Days like these make me regret having taking extra time to pursue an additional grad degree, doing research, etc. What's the point? 🙁

i hear you guys...this is awful. i knew it would be hard, but this is just ridiculous...all jokes aside. i am very surprised by the way things have unfolded thus far.

4 rejections plus the Step 2 CK request...for me as well!

to be more specific...hmm...lets see. there was yale at breakfast-time, then followed by hopkins. by late afternoon i got the OSU, and then NW just now.

i have a feeling in the next few days...emory, UW, duke...and the few others that have invited will ding me as well...

this process does NOT favor someone who got into the derm game a little later after trying all the other rotations...doing a derm rotation during 4th year. etc...boards, AOA, doesn't seem to matter as much as i had once thought.

what to do...:caution:
 
sweatybrain is tearing it up w/ all those invites from big name programs. i feel like i got kicked in the b@lls multiple times today, so many rejections & i lost count .. :scared:

Hey everyone,
No need to stress yet. Most of us applied to almost every program. That means that we will get > 80 rejections! Everyone I spoke with (residents who matched, faculty and a few programs that I called) said that things pick up after Thanksgiving, in the next 2 weeks or so.
Congrats to those who got interviews! Good job!!! But please if you did not hear from the programs who sent the invites, it does not mean that you are rejected. I called a few programs who sent out the invites, and was told that they are still reviewing applications.
So please, let us just support each other. It will be ok. It is a brutal process but there is always a solution.

P.S. I am happy that ERAS will be closed this weekend. No compulsive email checking for me 🙂

I thought the ERAS message just meant the ERAS office would be closed, not that the entire ERAS system couldn't work. Thus, I thought we could still get invites/rejections if programs wanted to send them out. I mean, it says their hours on 11/30 (which I assume is a normal day) are 8-5, and we all know we can get ERAS messages past normal business hours and on weekends.

I guess you are right! I probably misunderstood the ERAS holiday closing email.

I think it just means the ERAS office, but I doubt many program coordinators will be working over the weekend.
 
since i didnt hear from utah, UW, stanford, duke, Northwestern, IU, & UCSF today, this likely means i got rejected from all of teh above.. OMG :barf::barf::barf::barf:
 
Chill guys. The invite i received from nw and ucsf seemed to be geared only towards research oriented applicants. I'm sure there are more coming post thanksgiving. Hold on tight.
 
Soooo depressing... rejection after rejection. I haven't heard good news in 2 weeks now. :uhno: Amy Paller just drop-kicked my hopes and dreams via email.

Awaiting this alleged post-Thanksgiving influx of interview invites. I'm thankful this holliday season that I haven't lost my mind yet!

I ran into a classmate of mine the other day who's going into OB. She told me she's had to turn down 8 interviews because she got too many. Her scores are nowhere near the caliber to get even a single derm interview. We all sure picked a steep mountain to climb.

I got one from Kaiser in LA, and it doesn't seem anyone else posted that, so I was just wondering if anyone else could confirm UCLA, or if that was a misunderstanding.

It was my understanding that it was UCLA. I did not know there was a difference. I can double check later on today.
 
Ditto on the washu and Stanford rejection. These days I'm
used to waking up to several rejections. I've also had recurrent dreams these past few nights of being shot by aliens. I wonder if that's related to the stress of all these rejections. :scared:

MrEd, those are likely UCLA dates bc the kaiser ones are different. I'll post another update once I have access to a computer. (the person with the Brown interview provided the dates so I'll put those up too. )

I'm with you on this! I don't think I'm matching into derm this year and I guess it just gets tougher and tougher every year after that. What sucks is that I basically gave up a spot in radiology that I was offered and now I'm going to end up empty handed. 🙁 I am not happy about this! 🙁

Can you shuffle up your other interviews to accommodate one of the Wright State dates? I guess your other ones are higher up on your list? 😉 This is how I picture more interviews opening up post-Thanksgiving... people start having to cancel interviews...

I'm working on the updated list still... it's been taking a long time since the list has gotten so long. 🙂
 
Didn't hear from anyone today, but does anyone want to split hotel/car at U of Washington on 1/15? I'll be coming up from SF late on 1/14. I may also stay the night on 1/15...

It's not easy flipping interview dates around in derm it seems. Hoping that by the grace of God someone will switch me dates for Marshfield so I can have Dec 14th instead. Spread the word people!

If it comes down to it what's better: Wright or Marshfield? 😕
