For those of you out there who interviewed last year... Did you get most of your interview invites before November 1st or after the MSPE's were sent out?
I only have 2 interviews so far and I'm starting to get a little nervous with the list of other applicants having many more interviews already.
Thanks!

I think all of us are in the same boat. It depends on which schools you have applied to. I applied to schools mainly in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut. I have 4 invites so far. The last time I looked at the list of schools which are offering invites, most of them are not in NYC/NJ/Connecticut. That makes me feel slightly better.

I got most of my invites before nov 1st, only 2 anes and maybe 2 prelim invites after. however, some programs seem to have changed their policy now regarding waiting for dean's letter before sending out invites, so maybe it's just different this year.

Chica,

Did you get most of your rejections before Nov 1st as well? I've only got a couple of interviews but I haven't heard from the majority of my programs yet.

No actually I didn't get any rejections before nov 1st, neither anesthesia nor prelim. I never heard from a couple places, period (UNC i think was one of them). I got "wait listed" by a few others (MGH,MSSM,BID)--these i didn't hear about until around late nov/early december--later followed by a rejection from two of them (around january). I think the only programs who actually sent me outright rejections were Duke, UCSF, and stanford. And i think these came like on Nov 1st, or a day or 2 afterwards, because as i recall, all 3 had a policy of no send-outs before nov 1st. Stanford actually might have been a few days before 11/1, dont remember.

BTW, my late invites last year were UT-Southwestern and Brigham & Womens, the latter of which i got in mid-november after emailing them about my status and expressing my interest in their program.

An anesthesiology resident gave me some valuable advice that if you dont hear from a program for a while, that you might be interested in, you should call or email to inquire about the status. What can happen sometimes is a PD can get interrupted while looking at your file and then for example put it on the wrong stack and never look at it again. Apparently that's something like what happened to mine at BWH. Applications can sometimes get lost in the piles and piles of files that programs receive. So all of you applicants this year should keep this in mind and be proactive if you're left hanging without any answer by like mid-november or so.

So far I've gotten 4 anesthesia interviews 2 in NY, 1 in Boston and 1 in Chicago and 3 transitional year interviews (2 in NY and 1 in Boston). No rejections yet!! I applied to lots of schools so this is probably why i've gotten that many so far. (I'm not a pompous person and consider myself an average applicant so you rock stars out there on this thread or you people who couldn't possibly relate to someone average, then you all can ignore my reply.) I go to a school in NY state. I know that most of my friends in the NYC area have started getting interviews in the city. I haven't heard of people really getting interviews from chicago yet....more so I just heard of some people getting called for interviews at NW in the past two days, but I know of a few people who've gotten rejections in the Chicago area from a variety of schools. I know Georgetown started giving out interviews despite the fact they've told me they were going to wait until Nov 1st when they get my dean's letter. Same with St. Vincent's in Manhatten. I think it depends on a lot of factors so don't lose hope everyone! I think having a name at the beginning of the alphabet and geographically where you are applying and if you've done a rotation there are key. I have e-mails from BID, MGH, St.Vincent's, Georgetown, JHU, and Mt. Sinai saying they are awaiting dean's letters before giving out invites.
