INterview PCO HELP!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey

Well I had my interview Dec 22nd with PCO and it wasn't that bad. It was my third interview so I was a little more prepared. Plus the interview is really casual, so don't really worry about the interview. FYI: It is close-filed meaning the interviewer doesn't anything more than your name.

They ask the typical questions of tell me about yourself and why PCO. Also know some legislation in optometry and what you would like to do post-graduation. Another question was the difference between optometrist, optician and ophthalmologist. Other than that my interviewer just talked about the program. Also have one or two questions that you would like to ask.

Just to warn you it is a long day because not only did we have an interview but they gave us a tour of the two campuses.

Good luck.. if you have any more questions Ill be happy to answer them.

I interviewed there in December and I agree with the previous poster- the interview was very casual. However, it was my 4th interview so I was pretty relaxed about it compared to my first interview.

I did not get many of the same questions that the previous poster had besides the "how did you get interested in optometry/what's your background" type stuff at the beginning. From my experience, if you review the Interview section on this website to get an idea of common questions that are asked you will be fine. Just as the other poster said, my interviewer talked A LOT about the program there and his experience in optometry. I honestly did not get very many questions and when I did they were very specific to me (i.e. why did you decide to get a graduate degree? what did you learn from your study abroad trip? etc) However, since it is a closed interview, make sure you tell your interviewer enough about you so that they can ask those questions that you want to talk about. If I had not mentioned my graduate degree or my specific shadowing/work experiences, my interviewer would not have known and maybe I would have gotten more questions from "the list".

Review your OptomCAS application and practice answering some common questions and I think you will do just fine. Most importantly, relax and try to enjoy the day! Good luck!!!
