Hi guys

I have a question about interview, when they asking you :why you want to become a doctor"? Should I talk about personal story that inspired me or talk about Medicine itself and what I will enjoy by working as a doctor? also about the question that they ask you" tell me about yourself?" should we also talk about our volunteer experiences? can someone tell me how they answer this question.

Thanks

For the why a doctor question, that's going to be extremely personal. You should talk about the major things that caused you to become a doctor. It'll probably be fairly similar to what you mentioned in your PS.

As far as the tell me about yourself question, I think that question is absolutely idiotic. Whenever I'm asked I mention very brief autobiographical info and ask what they specifically want to know about. It's such a stupid question... I feel like they ask it to see what you'll mention on your own, but I don't play that game. I don't think there's really a right or wrong way to answer that one.

when they ask the "why doctor?" just be honest. if you had no life changing experiences that lead you to medicine that's fine. just tell them your path to what led you to med school.

the "tell me about yourself" question is easy and usually over analyzed. just talk about you. "i was born in blah blah blah, i grew up in blah blah blah, i went to blah blah blah". it's cake.

I actually have very dramatic life experience but many people who are med student or doctor telling me not say it, I grow up during the war in middle east in underserved rural area, I lost my grandfather due to lack of health care, but people telling me story does not work !

so you say, I tell them my story , right!
