Hey guys!

Quick Q. I read books whenever I usually have the time to but just thought of a scenario in my head that I couldn't find an right answer to.

Regarding the question "what was the last book you read?", would it be smart/beneficial in any way to mention I have religiously read a few interview books prior to being interviewed? Should I mix an interview book with other recent titles I've read or would it just be wise to avoid mentioning interview books all together?

I'm leaning towards gearing my response towards mentioning an interview book with a few other titles. I feel it would subtly show I've been doing a lot to prepare for my interview(s).

I don't think that would come off great. You don't want to come off like you rehearsed everything you said or prepped like crazy (even if you did). Be natural and let the conversation flow freely.

That's insightful. That's why I was thinking about mentioning other books, but now seeing the undertone mentioning an interview book would have I highly doubt I'd do it. Thanks man.

I have never interviewed for a medical school. However, I have had many panel interviews for police and fire departments. From my experience, a more 'impromptu' approach was respected. That doesn't mean do not be prepared, per se. Rather do not come off as a robot with predetermined answers and overly prepared. Be natural.

Just be honest - it doesn't matter what you have read, at least you read unlike myself I haven't read a book in ages. I have started and almost finished 3 or 4 books, but eh, reading isn't for everyone.

You are WAY over thinking this! Relax and be a person they would want to spend the next 2-4 yrs with. That is the most important factor in interviews.

I would mention an interesting book that might have some conversation come out of it.

I appreciate the replies everyone! Thank you. I probably am way over thinking this but I am no way nervous about my interviews. I'm just overly looking forward to them haha. Again thanks guys.

This question came up in one of my interviews and I didn't expect it at all. We ended up having a nice conversation about the hunger games and how I think Gale is better looking and makes a way better husband than Peeta. Don't worry about it too much and just be honest.

You will get nervous when the interview nears. Be yourself.

I've seriously never thought of this question being asked. Luckily my wife has started making me go to the library with her.

I'd ding you for not being able to answer a simple question.

OP, just answer the question, but watch what you say. Nobody talks about how they prepared for an interview...at an interview.

The interviewer wants to get to know your personality or trying to start a conversation with you. If you can't even answer something simple as this, then those interview books REALLY aren't helping you.
