interview question

January seems to be the best month for me to throw most of my interviews into. Is there any risk with scheduling them for jan - ie will schools cancel the interview or re-evaluate their standards after seeing so many applicants in nov and dec.

I realize it may be a stupid question, but just wanted to make sure. good luck.

It would be uncommonly cruel & unusual to offer an interview and later retract it if it's date hadn't arrived yet. So short of being convicted of murder or something like that before January, I would venture to say you're safe scheduling whenever is good for you/the school.

Admittedly I don't know for sure, but if they can/do actually do things like that, I'm scared already and I'm an MS2.

It is highly unlikely that a program would retract an interview invitation. The only thing that could cause something like that would be extenuating circumstances (e.g Katrina-esque) that would limit their ability to sufficiently conduct an interview.

Programs schedule interview slots based on the number of people they want to see...so they want to interview 60 people, they'll offer ~80 spots in hopes of seeing 6 people on 10 interview dates and squeeze in more if they get a better than anticipated response to their offers. But it's not as if they look at people in November and say, that's it, we got enough...because just like you, they don't know for sure how the other side will rank them so it would only be for their benefit to interview all the candidates they feel would be a good match for their program.
