How does one answer the inevitable question:

So why do you want to be a doctor, rather than nurse, social worker, etc.?

YOU have to answer this yourself. Don't think of trying to steal what one of us says; admissions will see through it, especially if what you tell them does not match your actions for the past 3.5 years.

If you tell them, "to help others" then you better have done some community service or something related to helping others while you were in college. Even then, this is usually so generic it carries no weight.

Look inside yourself for the answer. Sometimes some of us are afraid to because we, contrary to what we think, never find an answer.
