Interview Scheduling

Hi everyone! I'm wondering how far in advance interviews are usually scheduled? For example, if I were to get an interview invite on September 1, are the offered interview dates starting at September 15? October 1? I hope that made sense, I'm having trouble explaining.

The reason I ask is because I work full time and need to give 2 weeks notice for any absence. Anything less counts against you as an unexcused absence (even if you're sick with a doctor's note LOL). I am wondering if there will be a minimum 2 week gap between the time I receive the invite and the actual interview slot.

Of course, this is assuming I get any interviews....lol....

It varies but usually there is some variation and spread in available dates depending on when you get the invite. If it's rolling admissions later in the season can be more limited. Still can be first come first serve, so stay super on top of your emails for the most flexibility in choosing dates, communicating with the school and work. Sometimes you can also communicate this to schools if it becomes an issue. But if all that fails it might be worth the absence

Thank you so much! You're right, I'd take the absence for sure, I just wanted to know this is going to be an issue ahead of time so I can alert the manager asap.

There are no set rules. Some schools might schedule you a month out, others pretty much take a "jungle" approach and fill the entire fall semester's interview spots at once. MD/PhD's tend to coordinate their interviews better as they do cooperate with each other more.
