I am a third year right now and as we have to put in our requests for 4th yr scheduling in the next coupla mos I had a question about interviews - are they mostly in Nov/Dec or Dec/Jan? Accordingly I'll put in my requests for vacation mos.

Go for Dec/Jan because even if you get some interview offers in early Nov and schedule them for late Nov - tickets are more expensive and the schedule is more hurried than if you just interview in Dec/Jan. Besides - it gives you the ability to accept interviews offers later in the season after people have cancelled and opened more spot up.

Some places don't start interviewing until December. The earliest date that I saw was last week of October. I agree with above poster that Dec-Jan is the best. I guess a light rotation in November could allow you to interview at some nearby places early.

Eh, try and get as many as you can in November. That way you have Dec and Jan to be your free months. If you schedule something like Derm or Radiology, you can miss many days in November. That way you have room to schedule interviews regionally if at all possible, saving on travel costs.
