Hey guys,

Could you tell me about how much time I would have before a school let me know I've been invited for an interview and the actual interview? Or what's the shortest time for that could be? Family's going on vacation in September and I don't want to risk it.

Also, what time do most interviews take place (months)?

Thank you for your time.

Interviews are usually scheduled at least two weeks out, often more. Some schools give you a choice of two or more dates, others simply assign you a single date and time. Months before Christmas are the busiest for interviews, but many schools interview well into the spring (my school interviews in April). There are circumstances where a school might give you less time before an interview, but usually these last minute spots are due to cancellations and are given to students who live in the immediate area.

Most schools will give you at least 2 weeks notice, some give you a couple months of notice, and some will give you less than a week's notice. September 1 is a little early for interviews - it seems like the earliest interviews are in the middle of September. Most schools state on their website the months that they interview during - but usually it's September to February/March

In my experience, you usually get to pick your date (or if they supply you with one, you can change it if need be). Usually they give you plenty of time to buy plane tickets and stuff.

You will have no problem scheduling interviews around your vacation.

I applied early and had 1 interview in August, 3 in September, 3 in October. Private schools often give out interviews early (Pitt started giving out interviews in July last year), and public schools are usually later (didn't get my U Cincinnatai invite until September, when I got back from my 2nd interview). It's really variable. Check up on last year's Interview Invite thread to see when schools started offering interviews.

Thanks for the prompt responses.
