Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and I'm slightly comforted to see many people as stressed as my self.

I just started to get my interview letters. So far:

U of Mich
Nova
Univ at Buffalo

My question for everyone is how important are these interviews? Specifically, how often are people with interviews denied admittance. Any ideas about the percentage of people who are eventually accepted after an interview? For example, do schools accept 50% of people interviewed? I am soooo stressed!!

Hey there!

Well, I can't say for the other schools, but I think you will find the interview here at UB to be quite laid-back. 🙂

Just show up in professional but light clothes (don't wear heavy wool suits and such) and you will avoid that "is it hot in here or what!" syndrome. You will find Dr. Joynt and our other faculty members (your interviewers) to be quite down-to-earth.

Hope my school makes a good impression on you, and good luck!

Relax.
Time will erase the painful memory of your latest botched interview. So will your next interview fiasco.

Seriously,
Be positive. First of all, receiving interview invites is a good thing. It is far better than getting none. Second, you have nothing to loose at an interview and much to gain unless you are just naturally a mean spirited, selfish, egotistical, bore. Lastly, if you are receiving interview invites this early in the game, you can be sure that you will be a D1 somewhere about this time next year.

I didn't take my DAT's until Sept. 16th and I got four interviews without my DAT scores at:

Temple, UPENN, NOVA, and BU.

I wasn't too surprised with Temple and BU interviewing me before my DAT scores, but UPENN threw me off my chair with their invite. But the kept on reiterating at the interview: "we care more about the type of person we select more so than their ability to measure angles."

NOVA, over the phone said that they will wait until they got my scores.

It is a great feeling to get surprised like that.

Good luck,

I know the deadline for the DAT is Nov.1...does that mean that you must take the test by then OR that the official scores must be in by then????

each schools have their own rules. I know at the University of Washington the deadline is Nov. 1 and that means they should have the official copy by then. No ifs and buts. But each school has their own rules.
