Don't be like this guy.

So hard to watch...
Also there is part 2...

I'm not trying to make fun of him but this isn't really what you want to say during interviews.
Practice, practice, and practice (I give him credit for practicing on Mock Interview. Hopefully he did well on the real thing).
Listen to what this guy says and DO NOT respond like him.

Be confident and speak up.
Have fun.

This guy practiced but his answers aren't "touchy"(?)

To save you all 13 minutes of your life, this was a classic example of someone bombing an interview. I would reject him because:

  • His parents are pushing him to be a doctor; it's really not his choice, and it's blatantly obvious.
  • Even when asked if it was his choice, he had to hesitate.
  • There were several times he was asked a question and misinterpreted the question ("Do you have any hobbies?" "Like my volunteering? Do you mean during the semester?") or didn't answer the question ("When did you decide that Medicine was for you?").
  • He was very nervous.
  • He looked down more than he made eye contact.
  • He admits he's a perfectionist, and it hurt him academically. He did NOT answer the question about how he fixed
So yeah, don't be like this guy.

Don't be like this guy.

While this candidate is a tad robotic, and gave many canned answers, I'd accept him. He made good eye contact, seemed earnest, was very articulate, and understood everything asked of him. Losing a parent in school, and apparently recovering from it, adds to what appears to be a compelling story.

Note that every one of you should be able to answer the questions that the this interviewer threw at the candidate.

Now, for that reason, I never ask any of those questions. If any of you see me, I'll be throwing curveballs tight and inside, with a bunch of knuckleballs and spit balls too.
