I am not stating that these numbers are indicative of anything beyond the fact that it seems that there are still interviews to be had at schools (especially in Nov, Jan, Feb). I know that Predents is a small sample size of the total number of applicants, but these are the total interview numbers as of 09/23. The only schools I looked at were the schools to which I have applied....hopefully these numbers can ease those impatient urges. Again, the numerical value is the number of those who interviewed at each school for each cycle.

I had an interview yesterday, and was the only 1 out of 9 people who was on predents.

These are excellent observations, I guess most schools are nowhere near done sending out interviews and we still have alot to look forward to!👍

predents is a very small sample of the overall applicant pool but it is a very significant sample of the "uptight applicant pool". (i am a predent member too)

Seems like many of the schools are a little behind this cycle for some reason (except for MWU...i wonder if that # includes both campuses..but not sure b/c Az has been going crazy)........
I have a concern about the data provided for Western as well......i interviewed there on Sept. 18 and we had close to 60 interviewers that one day.......so 22 is an under-representation.....but if the data is only from predents then it could explain some of the discrepancy........
thanks for taking the time to post this!!

And thanks for showing us that you're on your period! From me to you: "..." 🙂 - I jest.

Dental schools have been very slow this year. My prediction is that as we get closer to December, more people will be signing up to show what they got. I'm pretty sure 40-50% of applicants know about SDN - and perhaps 30-40% know about PreDents (about 5-10% sign up though - the rest that know are too lazy to sign up or unwilling to share stats for reasons "unknown").

On the Predents page for Midwestern, when you click the hyperlink to go to the Midwestern Dental School page it takes you to the Arizona campus. So in my opinion that is only showing numbers for the AZ campus, not IL.

feels like dschool is getting more picky or reviewing more carefully

Which makes sense. Schools with little funds are trying to save money by interviewing less applicants. It does cost quite a bit of money to interview someone. So...my guess is...if you interview somewhere this year, your chances are higher than (per say) applicants who interviewed last year.

This is just my theory (that conflicts with others 🙂 ).

Ive noticed a new trend where many people hate on SDN and Pre-Dents.com. Maybe an overall drop in members is the reason the pre-dents numbers are off?

Alot of students have started to realize that they cant handle reading about the top 10% applicants who post their high scores/whine about only having 10 interviews/etc.

As a matter of fact, when my friends see me on the forums, they make physical attempts to take my computer and stop me from making myself paranoid.

Although I must admit that SDN is definitely nerve -racking at times considering the amazing stats, I feel that its also a strong reminder of the competition, which helps keep me motivated to stay on top of my game. There is also a wealth of information available if one knows how to look for it.

yeah.....awkward is right.....Amped just has his head stuck a bit too far up his own a** is all....he'll chill when he grows up a bit....."...".....i jest back? 🙂

Pinhi, Beck.. there are no numbers for MWU-IL because they are interviewing for their inaugural class. Just didn't want you to stick your foot in your mouth during the interview

Thanks Beck! Good info!

It's normal to grow "up". That's not a chilling thing as well - you need some warmth to grow up. And we're not on the topic of age 😀.

If you want to discuss maturity maturely, my head stuck up my a** a bit too far is coincidentally an age issue. Does whining about applicants declining interviews count here as well?

The jester strikes back once again lol.

I hope you two get to meet each other at an interview 🙂

I always stick my foot in my mouth. There is nothing funnier than saying something that isn't politically correct. Seriously, thanks for the heads up.

beck, just to let you know, as a re-applicant, i updated my stats on predents and deleted last years records, otherwise i would have had double the amount of applications and so on. so now you dont see where i applied or interviewed last year. not fool proof. sorry...

Well I guess that's even better. It might not be foolproof, but I just wanted to help out those who are waiting patiently for an interview at certain schools. Plus, now you're telling me that those numbers don't even include those who got interviews yet deleted their accounts. This is like an extra present on Christmas.
