So maybe I'm just naive to this process, but I'm not really sure what I should be expecting lately. All of my secondaries are in and I have been complete at most schools for a few weeks.

I know, at this point, many people are getting interviews who were complete after me. However, these people typically have much better stats than I do. So, if people who were complete after me at a certain school are getting interviews and I haven't heard anything, should I start looking for rejection letters in my snail mail or is there some pile they throw mediocre applicants into to review later on? And if this is the case, would they notify me or just expect me to wait quietly for a few months??

Like, is it possible that I'm complete somewhere in July but don't hear about a possible interview until January??? I'm so confused. 😕

Yes. There are still a ton of people applying and applications that will be reviewed after the august MCAT. so schools know that they haven't seen anyone, and they don't want to give up all their interview spots this early.
if you don't get an interview the first time they review your application, then you'll probably be put on a pile to be reviewed several more times in comparison with the other apps. the last interviews go out after the deadline for each school since they know that that's all the apps they're getting. interviews come all year-round.

Randomness plays such a role in this process! Your stats aren't terrible, but I would definitely add more schools. Where's the fun in the application process if you're not inundated with secondaries? 😀 Good luck!

I am curious to see what others have to say about this...

I had a friend who (the year before last) interviewed in Sept/Oct, had an acceptance on Oct 16th, and made her app decisions based on that from then on out...

I also know someone who submitted secondaries and did not hear a word (other than some rejections throughout the year) until MARCH! from a school, who invited her for an interview & subsequently rejected her - she's reapplying this year, I think...

So... thoughts?

Unfortunately yes, I was complete at a school in late June and didn't hear a peep until the second week of April (rejection obviously). I honestly had forgotten I'd applied there by that point!

yeah I'm wondering this too, but I've heard from different people on SDN that they got interviews later in the season (December) after applying early and got acceptances. They say one of the reasons to apply early is if your app is not the strongest, it lets the adcoms review it several times so you have more chances to catch someone's eye. I am not going to start sweating until some time in the fall. :luck: to all of us "interesting" applicants! (my mdapp doesn't show my grad gpa of 2.96)
