Interview

When is the time to start being concerned about a lack of interview invites?

1. When were you complete at most schools?
2. What are your stats?

I only ask because these are two factors that play a big role in when and how many you receive. Early applicants receive more interviews and earlier ones typically because they are reviewed earlier, simple. Better stats usually means the first batch of invites. People with mediocre stats may be invited after a second review, so later in the season. Obviously there are a gazillion other factors so take this lightly.

I applied last year and was complete at most schools between august and september, and I didn't get my first invite until october or november. My last one came in january so they definitely take their time.

I was complete late and didn't get my first interview offers until Dec. (interviewed in Jan. and Feb.). My last interview offer was in late March. When I came out to tour one of the schools in late March after an acceptance offer, their interview season was still in full swing, and I know at least a few that were there during that time got acceptances.

It's great to get early-season offers, but I wouldn't stress too much this early in the application cycle.

its only September. You have plenty of time.

You just yesterday posted in the WAMC forum what a "hypothetical" 3.7/40 applicant should do/where to apply (which top schools specifically.) Are you even verified and submitted yet? The two posts seem contradictory.

My stats: 3.7, 41, verified a long time ago but had to wait on mcat scores so i didnt get everything submitted until the end of august. I was just wondering when these things typically come out.

@Pons: that was because my friend was flipping out, so i was wondering what to tell him. (im guessing his stats, but he isnt applying this cycle)

Wait, so you scored a 41 and your friend (who is also prematurely neurotic) scored a 40.

well we studied together so it makes sense that we would score near each other.
and i realize i shouldnt be worried now, i was just wondering when the right time to worry is. I didnt apply very broadly, and most school have a median gpa higher than mine, and my ECs are not spectacular.

and i frequent this forum far more than is probably good for me.

One of my friends was interviewing in March last cycle and he still got in (to an MD program).
