Hello All,

For those of you who have interviewed on-site at Mayo this year, would you mind posting back a little bit about your experience, or any info or advice? (or direct me to an existing thread--I searched through and couldn't find one--no luck on Interview Feedback either). I have an interview there in two weeks (my first one), and would appreciate hearing how it went for others. Feel free to PM me if you would prefer, and the best of luck to all of you.

hi,
i think there is one or two interview experiences on interviewfeedback on the actual on site interview and not the phone interview. basically, most people said the day was REAL long.....lots of tours/meetings with people. it sounded like mayo real put a lot of time into each interviewee...doesn't seem like they interview many people on a given day. anyway, my interview is towards the end of this month. i'll post my experiences on the site for those curious. in the meantime, best of luck to you and have fun!

second loomis on that "long day" impression--at least from interview feedback, it looks like it's going to be my longest day ever (7:45 a.m. - 6 pm, lots of walking). apparently they interview around 400 students or some similar figure (about 12% of applicants) so i'm guessing they can afford to give personalized attention to each applicant. there was another mayo thread where someone posted about last yr's interview experience (woots32, i think).

if anyone has any more perspectives (esp those who've interviewed...) feel free to share! 🙂

They interview about 250-300 people each year and between one and 10 on each interview day (usually about 3 or 4 people per interview day). There is a sample interview day intinerary posted on the Mayo Medical School website here (look in the lower right hand corner).

I had my Mayo interview a few weeks ago, and I didn't think it was as insanely long as everybody said it would be. I was the only one interviewing that day, so it was pretty cool to have that experience. The office staff (Jane and Cindy) are awesome, so be really nice to them! Interviews were pretty laid back, and there were chances to meet and get to know students (at lunch, at the student led tour, and randomly walking through the student center the night before). It is a long day, but it's definitely worth it to get to check an amazing school/ clinic! PM me if you have any other questions.

Hey guys, thanks for all the helpful posts!

i LOVED mayo clinic. only 2 people interviewed on my day, the day before thanksgiving! it was beautiful. Students drove me to and from the airport (waking up early at 7:30am to take me to the airport?!) (!!!!), took me out to dinner, we saw movies, met the deans who invited students over for thanksgiving dinner, saw the city......ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

heaven to the nth degree.

how long did it take Mayo to process your application? I sent in my money ages ago and haven't heard from them at all. Do they usually offer interviews in late February-March?

I think it was about 4 weeks after I sent in my check that Mayo processed my application and asked for the lors and to schedule a phone interview. I personally have no idea how late they interview, but I would be interested to hear if anyone has heard anything from them post interview lately, good/bad/or otherwise. Another good question for the upcoming months: Anyone know how many more batches of acceptances they are planning to give? I know they're supposed to have the class filled by march 15 and have been making appointments every 4-6 weeks, but I wonder how close they are to filling the class, and when they are going to generate the alternate list. Anyways, guess I'll keep my fingers crossed for that phone call. good luck to anyone else waiting.
