Just wondering if there is anyone out there who will be interviewing at the samw time (March 3)? Also, for those who have interviewed, which hotel(s) provide transportation from the airport to the hotel and to LECOM as well.....any info would be greatly appreciated.

When I interviewed I stayed at the Econolodge. (It's the cheapest and uses the airport shuttle). You can also try the Comfort Inn or Marriot. Just stay anywhere on Peach Street and ask if the shuttle will be available to you.

I don't know if they always do this, but the shuttle actually dropped off and picked up from the interview too. Ask in advance since the cabs can be pricey and unreliable in poor weather.
Good luck!

When I interviewed at LECOM I rented a car from Budget and stayed at Holiday Inn Express. It was only $40 for the car and it removed the worries about the shuttle being late the morning of the interview. I was able to see the school the night before, get breakfast at Cracker Barrel before the interview and check out the town after it was over.

Thanks guys, think I'll go for the Econo Lodge....

I cancelled my LECOM interview so I can't comment on where to stay, but I just wanted to say.............. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stayed at I believe spring hill suites. My memory is kinda faded since I interviewed there on oct 10th. I just remember that it was right on peach street next to 90 and there was a pretty decent applebee's that I had dinner at. Pretty darn good chocolate shake also. Anyway, it was a nice big room and I was pretty pleased.

Have fun at your interview and good luck. Erie really is a nice place you just have to get used to snow! You should eat at quaker state and lube- it's yummy. It's on peach street, where everything is at in erie. 🙂

Are you interviewing for the Erie or Bradenton school???

I will be interviewing at the Erie, PA campus. Are you interviewing as well?? Erie sounds a lot like where I am from (ND), so bring on the cold weather and snow!! Nothing can top the windchills we had a couple weeks ago (-60!!!!)

I recently interviewed at another school where they had refreshments and even muffins in the interview room. Does Lecom do this? and if not, do they allow you to bring in a small glass of water. I know it's crazy, but I often get dry in these situations!

Hey

I *think* they have water in the main conference room. Last year a few students got choked up during their actual interview and one of the faculty left to get them a drink.

I stayed at the Days Inn and had to cab it to LECOM. When I went there (jan 29th) it snowed like 2 feet in 2 days, yet the cabs somehow still made it on time...

They didn't have any water in my interview. Just me....and three people staring back at me. Good times though.

There was water at interviews in three other schools I interviewed at though....

North Dakota? I haven't seen any license plates from ND, but I am from SD. The major differences in the weather between our area of the country and Erie are:

1) They get a lot more snow here in Erie.

2) It doesn't get anywhere near as cold here in Erie as it does on the Great Plains.

3) At least compared to western SD, the winter is a lot shorter here.

Good luck with your interview. Lecom really is a great place to be.

Honestly I didn't think the snow was that bad here. I had ideas that we would be snowed in for weeks! Darn...it didn't happen!

Yea....

I guess I didn't mind the snow because I love it.....i love driving in it..i love skiing...i love the physical beauty of it.....so if you're a snow person...lecom is definetly the school for you

Depending on where you are from, you may find the skiing here unappealing. Growing up in the mountains of W. Washington, I can assure you that these here are not mountains....they are hills. There is no such thing as a Black diamond run....let alone a double black diamond.

is there perhaps a nice ski resort approximately 2-3 hours away...like a weekend escape? I'm from chicago so our ski resorts (if you wanna call it that) are worse than hills....(they're built on old garbage dump...imagine that)....

Depends on what you call nice. There are places to go nearby...Peak-N-Peek (great golf course during summer!!!) is within 30 minutes, but not worth the money for a ticket (not to sound like a ski snob, but considering you are used to midwest US skiing it might not be too bad for you), Holiday Valley is a bit further and better. Actually not TOO bad of a place to go, but hardly worth the drive or cost. Best bet....take a 3-4day weekend (yes Im telling you to skip class) and head to either Killington or Stowe. Both in Vermont, both the best eastern US has to offer.
Me, I havent been since my first year year (my postbac year). Ive boarded a few times, but thats cause Im not all that good. Cant seem to get amped for skiing when I get to the bottom of a hill in under 30 seconds and it takes 10 minutes to ride the chair up.

My husband grew up near Denver and served in the military near the Alps. He says that the the best slope at Peek n Peek is a nice bunny hill. However, if you're dying of thirst, even a glass of water will keep you going for a while!
