The interview question : Will you go here if accepted? is just the worst.

How do you navigate that if it's not your top choice? Lie?

I'm sure other people have asked this, care to point me in the right direction?

Thank you!

"I'm very excited by "X COM"and what I've seen today. I'm interviewing here bc it's a school I'd be proud to attend and I will select the school that's the best fit for my goals."

Just give an excited but roundabout answer and I doubt you'll get pressed harder.

this. you're not going to surprise them if this isn't your number one pick. don't say it's your number 1 if it isn't. they will likely be able to read through it.

"I have really liked everything about my day so far and X COM is definitely somewhere I could see myself going"

That tells them you are interested in going. Which you are, but your attendance is just based on a certain situation arising (rejected by 1st choice, etc). They don't have to know that

Are schools really asking you that question? In five interviews, I was never put in a position where I felt I had to overstate my interest in a school...

Do you want to be a doctor?

Agree it's a stupid question. A waste of a question, because it does invite people to lie. I've had colleagues ask "Would go to Harvard or here?"
