Hello,

I am comparing my GPA/DAT with the stats on predents.com for a school. While my numbers are right at the averages for those granted interviews, I am below those who were accepted. I'm guessing the school wouldn't bother interviewing someone that didn't have a chance of being accepted. Or at least that's what I hope.

lol, if they gave you an interview, that means they like you and want to see more about you. You should go! 👍

Now that you mention it... I am not only below the avg accepted GPA/DAT but also for those interviewed.

Nevertheless, I got in? As long as your numbers are within the ballpark, just worry about knocking your interviewer's socks off 😉

Actually you're pretty much an above average applicant for Columbia. Based on the 2011 ADEA handbook, the average AA for Columbia was 22 and the average GPA was 3.44.

A 20AA with a 3.4 GPA is a below average applicant for Columbia.

Le OP is talking about the stats on predents so what I said is technically correct 😛

I wish I still had my ADEA book but sadly... my mother threw it away back in November or so... 🙁

oh ok OP predents doesnt cover the whole spectrum and is not correct since its self reported.

Jo. you're mom should get you a present for tossing it out.

If I have learned anything while applying to dental schools this past year it's this, averages should not freak you out or intimidate any applicant! If you are a well rounded person and express that in your primary / secondary applications, some schools will look at the BIGGER picture. Keep in mind all the info on predents.com and sites like these are AVERAGES in other words people well below the average will be considered and possibly even accepted. Keep your chin up always and do your best.

well predents = incorrect. Adea = correct, but someone with a 19AA should probably apply elsewhere rather than Columbia, unless you feel like making a donation to the school 🙂

A lot of it does come down to the interview as long as you qualify academically.
