I don't know how to ski (or snowboard for that matter) but I sure as hell wanna learn. Looks fun.

I highly recommend at least one lesson. Most of the first experience of both involves falling down a great deal. (The same could, however, be said of all winter sports - except maybe curling.)

Bone breaks come from snowboarding. Torn and twisted ligaments from skiing. Take your pick 😉

Emory by email which was not posted on eras. 🙂

For those of you getting interviews already--has your dean's letter been submitted yet? Also, are all your LoR's done? I wonder if I will start getting invites once that information has been uploaded by our school. I wish they'd let me just do it myself so it would get through quicker! 🙂

I don't think anyone's dean's letter (at least from US schools) can be submitted until november 1. I got almost all of my interview requests (except 2 I think) before the dean's letter was in.

There's always bull**** going down with the Dean's letters. Some deans have sent unofficial letters early or else verbally read them over the phone. The whole match system needs some serious policing as I know for a fact that a couple of the top residency slots have already been awarded under the table. I pity the fools who are going to waste time and $ interviewing for programs in which some (if not all) slots already were filled.

If they wanted those applicants so badly that they were going to futz around with Match rules, would they really care what the Dean's letter said?

Thought not.

Seperate issue. The under the table offers had nothing to do with deans letters, you're right.

Yeah I've heard of this sort of thing happening but I can't say anything definitive. Care to tell us more about how you know this "for a fact" and which particular programs are involved? It sure does suck for those of us going through the match... 🙁

I know these for a fact since I know these people personally (family friends). I won't name programs but they're both in very competitive specialties. One of the guys was so ridiculously amazing as an applicant he got under the table offers from multiple programs. It leads me to believe that more shady **** occurs at high-end programs than low-end ones. But even a lot the low end ones, there's enough **** to go around.

Shady **** happens everywhere, not just during match. The funniest and shadiest story I have is about a girl I knew in undergrad. She was worried about O-chem so she let it be known that she would sleep with the professor for an A or an A+. The prof agreed and they took care of business a few times during the semester. At the end of the semester, he gave her a B+. It's still better than what she deserved and she didn't want to be disciplined if she went public, so she kept quiet. Funny ****.

New Mexico today by e-mail!

New Mexico and Utah today by email!

Yay! I finally got my first interview invite to Iowa by email. Man, the PD at Iowa works fast. My 2nd LOR of 3 was just uploaded at 7:56pm and he downloaded it and invited me for an interview at 8:45pm.

Here's a question - When a program (like Iowa apparently has been) offers you complimentary accomodations for a night are they doing the same for all the other interviewees? Just seems like that would get really expensive...

Penn puts you up in a hotel too. And they do this for every applicant as far as I know. I don't see why people would get preferential treatment when it comes down to subsidized accomodations.

Yeah - the hotel was paid for during my trips at Penn, UVM, Dartmouth, Utah, Iowa. They did that for everyone that year.

Hey guys
I am just restating clair s question again. For those who got the invites, Have all of your LOR s been uploaded?
Thanks
Quant

Hi Beary
Thanks for the reply. Congrats on Iowa!!!!!!......Are you done with the surgery rotation yet?
None of my LOR s are uploaded yet. I need to encourage my LOR writers to send them out!...

I finish surgery on Friday!! 43 hours from now!  I am SO happy that it is almost over.

My only letter that is in is from a pathologist. I am getting my other two letters from grad school, and I just sent those guys reminder emails today. I wonder when my PI will finally get around to doing this.

Thanks so much for asking about my feet! That is so nice. I think they are doing a little better. They still hurt pretty badly but at least I can hobble around. I think getting off surgery will help them a lot. 🙂

I am a little concerned about invites - wish I had more. But it is still early.

Amen to that.....I had this problem a while ago, but it resolved without much problem thankfully. Soft soled foot wear helped a lot.

Its early days still i guess.....even more so for IMG s...i'm keeping fingers crossed......... :scared:

What is up with these programs that still haven't downloaded applications? 😕 Like Penn, MGH, Michigan.

hey quant....didnt know that you were an IMG....i am also an IMG and have applied for pathology and am anxiously waiting for any info from the schools....have you heard from anywhere? what is your background like? goodluck.

UCLA, USC, UC Davis haven't downloaded my application either. Plus I haven't heard from any program I applied to (all are mostly in west coast). I am already planning to reapply next year. 🙁

No worries, miko! I haven't really heard from any program, either (except from Duke to say that they've received my application, and MUSC to say that I need to be ECFMG certified in order to interview...guess I can cross them off my list!). 😛

This waiting is unbearable!

hey all....didnt know that are some IMGs in this forum and applying for pathology....would be great if all of you could update the interview situation as it evolves....thanks....

Hello guys-

So far have only heard from Iowa and New Mexico out of the 20 places I sent my app to. I assume that we are pretty early on in the process, as most of my classmates are astonished that I already have an interview scheduled. For those who were asking about the LOR's, I only have 1 LOR in right now.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you got an email from UVA about the track name amendment. When I applied I chose the physician only track since there was no "categorical" track listed for UVA. Today I got an e-mail saying there was a mistake and I should change my application to reflect the new categorical track. However when I go into ERAS it already seems to be changed for me. Did anyone else change anything in ERAS?
Thanks in advance.

Well I haven't heard anything from any programs yet 😕 My home program hasn't even downloaded my stuff yet. When should I start worrying? :scared:

Don't worry. I had the same situation and sent an e-mail.
The PC told me this,

"No there is no longer a problem. I wanted to be sure that everyone that is applying is aware of the change, in case they are only seeking "physican only" options."

Same thing happened here. I was so excited to get an email from them - was hoping it would be an interview offer! Very disappointing.

DOnt worry Brian Pavlovitz, A week or 2 from now you will have so many interviews that you will wonder why you worried in the first place. Take care and good luck. 🙂

It is easy. Don't worry about it. It's funny...last year around this time, yaah would be like, "chill out peeps...it's too early to worry." I didn't listen. I still worried....but that's just me. And you probably won't listen either but again, "don't worry, it's too early."

Congrats on finishing up surgery (although pre-emptive). 🙂

Last year UCLA, UCSF, and Michigan downloaded my application relatively late (like after October). Michigan was one of the last programs to download; however, they did download the applications much earlier than they did the year yaah applied. Michigan seems to download all the applications in one big swoop. So hopefully the folks who applied there will get their applications in before the end of the month so that they can be in the first batch of applications downloaded and reviewed.

As for USC, my friend applied to that program last year. He got a letter saying that they won't be reviewing applications after the Dean's Letter is downloaded (i.e., November 1st).

The OCD is strong in this thread...

Iowa's email to me said that they like to have at least one LOR from a pathologist before offering an interview. (Of course, I don't have any LOR's uploaded yet).
