I checked to see if Michigan downloaded my application yet approximately 10 times today.

Me, too! Does this seem like dating to anybody else?

Hey Guys
Did anyone apply to Thomas Jefferson in PA? I got a strange letter from them today saying that they have received my application and reviewed it. Then they go on to say no further action is necessary at this time, and they will contact if any further information is required.
😕 😕
Regards
Quant

i did receive that email and I think it is a subtle way of stating that our application is down the drain. I dont know what else to make of it. Goodluck.

She may not get to it until october. I don't think interviews start until november.
Actually, last year they started in late october. usually it was the local folks (folks in Michigan or Ohio) who snatched these spots because traveling to Ann Arbor on short notice wasn't that much of a deal for the natives.

Hey everyone! I'm a newbie here! I just got an interview invitation, i'm an IMG so it might be my only one! Got any ideas how to increase my chances betw. now and the interview? I have like no US experience, should i get a job? Thanks!

welcome and congrats on your invite....if you already applied to most of the programs then I dont how much you could do to improve the application strength. Maybe you can try to get some exposure in pathology and discuss this during the interviews.By the way where did you get the invite from? goodluck with the process and the interview.

EVMS by email, UNC by snail. Boat drinks all around! :hardy:

Nice work! Pardon my ignorance, but where is EVMS?

It's in Norfolk, VA.. a small program but they draw from the greater Hampton Roads megalopolis. I haven't heard much good or bad from anyone about it.

Hopkins by e-mail 🙂

I am not sure that I even want to know -- but has anyone heard anything from ANY west coast programs? I have only heard from my own school (not anywhere near west coast).

I have only heard from my own school as well. Nothing from either coast.

Good luck to all of you!!!

Welcome over from the dark side! 👍

Got an interview invite from UT-San Antonio today via snail mail. They ask when I want to schedule the invite...guess I should wait and see what happens with Rita before setting the date.

Hi, everybody...I'm doing my OB/GYN call tonight.. 😱
Do you all think if I apply in the beginning of october , it will be too late??
I will apreciate if somebody has an answer. 🙂

Judging by how slow (for most of us) things have been so far, I would venture a guess and say you'd be fine.

Rita's not going anywhere near San Antone. The evacuees will be heading back to Houston and surrounding areas in less than 72 hours. Unless you're trying to interview there this weekend, I wouldn't let Rita deter you from anything.

Invite from St. Joseph's in Phoenix by email.

You can't come in here and demand that random people whom you have never met in real life post their hopes and dreams 😉

Or rather, you can - but don't be disappointed if no one responds 😛

Ok; I'll hold you to that, mcfaddens! 😉

And the nominees are (in no particular order):

U of Arizona
Baystate Medical Center/Tufts U
Hopkins
U of Minnesota
Duke
Dartmouth
Albany Medical Center
SUNY Upstate
U of Rochester
Cleveland Clinic
Penn State
U of Pennsylvania
Medical University of South Carolina
Medical College of Virginia/VCU
U of Vermont

I'd be open to additions from you more seasoned veterans, too!

Cleveland Clinic by e-mail today. I hope I hear from Ohio State soon so I can at least organize some of my interviews regionally. Otherwise travel costs are going to suck big time. Heck they already do... I had to pay 550 for roundtrip to New Mexico.

Yes, same for me. I think my Emory invite was the same way, so I am going to be careful about not tossing out any e-mails without checking them out first!

good list..funny,but it almost exactly matches the places i have applied to.but, considering i'm an IMG, the total number is more in the 30s..applied mostly in the new england area-most of the boston progs,baystate,berkshire,danbury,hartford-
and also lots in NY-cornell,nyu,albany,suny up-&down state-
and Penn-almost all possible programs!!!
what's worse, got my first rejection also-Univ of Cinn(help with the spelling here!!!) 🙁
i posted my stuff on ERAS on the 12-14th..i guess if AMGs are still sitting tight, IMGs are really in for a LONG wait.. :scared:

Hi, I'm glad there's another IMG! I'm currently in an OB/GYN program...but I'm going to pathology....ob/gyn is unhuman and cruel...I'm getting all my papers together to apply.
The best of luck!

OB/GYN sure seems like a tough line.have heard pretty much the same from everyone i have spoken to..totally respect the OB/GYN people, but it would never work for me. i'm doing my MPH and have no US clinical exp.i'm trying to get started on an observership in the path dept in a nearby hosp,to show something atleast on the interview..hopefully,if i do get some calls, it ought to hold some value..
one question i am dealing with now, from my family, and i expect to arise in the interviews is "why path??why not 'clinical' med?"..now i have read previous threads, and found a lot of people who have had to deal with the Q & gave their(very personal, yet very apt)reasons.however, was wondering about the "correct" i.e.PC answer to give in a formal setting of an interview..i guess to say that "i found it fascinating from the time we began studying it in 2nd year" and "clinical medicine leaves me feeling more helpless and depressed everytime i come across people i cannot help at all" ,though true, may not make the grade at the interviews.
yeah, its good to have IMGs interested in Path too..loads of them wanna go for IM/Peds not because of any love for the subject, but because its "real medicine",and "after all, isn't that why we joined med?"..it drives me crazy everytime i say i want to do path and get the 😱 look!!i am sure the AMGs face this too..wish i was at the point where i could say,"think what you want, but i'm getting to do what i want." might be a matter of maturity & hopefully it will come after i get in somewhere!!
good luck to all you guys!!fingers,toes,legs,arms,intestines..all crossed in the hope of getting something this year...

Well, I'm technically an IMG as well (St. George's University). I added St. Barnabas and St. Luke's/Roosevelt today.

I'm starting to get a little scared since I haven't heard anything yet, though! :scared: Oh well, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe I'll see you on the interview trail!

And to all those who have had invites--congrats! 👍

Im beginning to get nervous too....im wondering if i should add some more programs....

you gotta decide what hurts more..overapplying and wasting some money now ,or wasting an entire year kicking yourself..not to say you will, but i'm rather paranoid about this.

to the experienced hands out there-- how long is too long? how worried is too worried? for, what you reap is what you sow.. i'm just :barf:ing with fear..
to the rest of you-- sorry for sounding like a depressing worry-monger right now..
and,if i hadn't said it before,CONGRATS to those with calls 👍

It's not even October yet...so any worrying at this point is quite premature. If you haven't heard from a single program by the time November rolls around, yeah, I'd get a little bit worried.

Well if it makes you feel better I have not even gotten an official interview invite to my home program. That's the main one I'm waiting for!!

I wish there was an answer to the "how late is too late" question, but in truth it really is still early. There are some programs that tend to do things faster (my first interview I actually did on october 13 or something like that) but it does vary year to year and definitely from program to program.

Guess it is too late for me to meet my goal of losing quite a bit of weight before interviews. 😳

*goes and munches on oreos*

What are your inclusion criteria if I might ask? I'm trying to see a pattern in your list, but I don't think I'm finding one! PM/email me if you like.
