Has anyone tried to contact schools that have sent out interviews, to make sure they have your application, or to confirm a rejection?

got an email for an interview from the university of kentucky today. any thoughts on this program? haven't heard all that much about them.
 
Other than Northwestern, anyone hearing anything from the Chicago area? ?There are a ton of schools there, all of which I applied to, yet have not heard a peep except from that Rush mailing....
?This blows.

I've been speaking with some 1st year ophthalmology residents. One recommended calling programs to ask about application status. Apparently this strategy netted him an interview at a program. I'm still undecided about whether to attempt this.

Cook County Hospital 10/16 by phone, only interview date I was offered was 11/8
Got Northwestern rejection mailing today at least they're nice enough to let me know.

I just did! E-mailed Rush to check the status of my application and they didn't had it! I am so furious; the F#@$^*G SF Match assured me everything was already out! BTW…I was supposed to be on the second batch. At least Rush will request a copy of my app. This SUCKS!!! The F#*(@*G SF Match is messing up big time!!! I better start sending more e-mails…:scared:

dive- that really is awful. now i don't know if we should all be doing that. how are we to know which ones have received it and which haven't. we can't track them like on ERAS. i'm so frustrated with this. we've spent so much money to have this all screwed up. i guess i'll be joining you and sending some emails? maybe i'll wait a little but still

This SF Match situation, changing the way they distribute, and not being able to see who has your app is unacceptable. We have all put too much work to get to this point, to apply, pay and the apps aren't even sent!? There has to be some recourse, before it's too late.
 
Iowa called Thursday saying they had tried to email the previous week, but I never received it. They were kind enough to call, but said they only had a couple spots left on 11/3 making me change travel plans.
-Wake Forest and Kentucky emailed yesterday
-Had an interview yesterday. PD said there is a critical mass of number of residents at which point programs have much higher board passage rates. He said this point was >4 residents in a program.
 
Here are the only programs that sent me emails saying my application is complete:
WashU
UCSD
Michigan
Emory
UCLA

Has anyone gotten confirmation emails from any other programs? At least this will help us all figure out which programs to start calling...

Yeh, I had the same experience with Iowa; I kind of wonder if the problem wasn't on my end....
 
I had the same situation with Iowa and I've been paranoid about my email. It looks like it was on their end if this happened to 3 people.

U of Colorado - 10/12 email
U Mich - 10/5 email => state they will contact for interview after 10/31
UCLA - 9/29 email => state they will contact for interview after 11/1
Albert Einstein - 10/2 email
U Wisconsin - 9/28 email
Emory - 9/22 mail

Hey-just wondering what you guys know about hte university of washington program? i.e. number of residents/surgical volume/quality and number of faculty

Just received an invitation to interview via email on 10/20, batch 1

interview dates: 11/16, 11/17, 12/01
 
received my first rejection (ohio state)...i really wanted to interview there to.

I applied to michigan but did not receive a confirmation, wash U had my email address wrong so i did not receive that confirmation either. i am temped to contact the three or four schools I still really want to interview at (but have not heard from) to make sure they have my application.
 
are you guys getting interviews outside of your geographic location? (meaning outside of where you're from, go to med school, or did away rotations). my interviews so far have been limited to a 6hr driving radius from where i live...

I sent a whole bunch of e-mails in response to my situation with Rush (read above). Most of the replies state that my app was received and is under review. But I also received 3 rejection e-mails: Yale, USF and UTMB. At least I can cross those 3 programs out of my options list. Good luck…:idea:

Has anyone received an interview from Rush? The three interview dates they have listed on SFmatch website are all within the next 10 days, but I haven't seen anyone post an interview from them.

Rush interview dates I think were 10/27, 10/30 and 11/1 (not sure about this last one). I got a phone call and snail mail about the same time, around ~10/13. Hope this helps

called about 10 programs today, got a couple rejections out of it. if you haven't heard from mayo yet, don't bother b/c they're done sending out invites and all their dates are filled.

just try not to do what i did and call a program you didn't apply to to find out the status of your app :laugh:

Well, I guess early November is the new deadline for panic attacks and psychoses...:laugh:
 
I emailed a few programs to make sure they got my app and was told basically the same thing that invites would be going out either late this week or next week. Good luck everyone.
 
Just got an email from Loma Linda

Their Dates are:

The day I couldn't check email Mayo sends out their invites to way more people than they have interview spots for and everybody who's late gets on the "wait-list". I guess they're playing the game of survival of the fittest email checker. And I always had wanted to see the famous Mayo clinic...oh well I guess there's always fellowship. 🙁
 
I would not feel too bad. I heard everyone just stands there and follows the attendings like med students. I got sick of this as a med student, so decided it was not worth risking having to do it for 3yrs in residency. The other thing I have not understood about mayo, is if someone is smart enough to get in there, why do they not go someplace where it's not so cold?

Dive, I had a ton of problems with SF...they screwed up getting my app. out. I kept calling, and they continued to say, "Well, it's not out yet, but it is all here and will go out with the next batch." After 2 weeks of this garbage, I finally spoke to one of the supervisors, who apologized for the mess and personally email by CAS to all the programs I applied. I called most of them over the next couple of days and made sure they pull the email. If you haven't already, I would get on the phone rather than waiting for email. Most of the ladies are pretty busy right now and might easily blow over an email. Hope that helps, and sorry for the awful (but not unexpected) problems with SF.

What do you guys know about UT Houston?

I too have had problems with SF Match. One of the faculty members at Cornell actually physically checked to see if my application was there, and it wasn't! He said the review committee is already reviewing all the applications that are in, so unless they get my app in the next day or two, it will be too late. I sent my stuff into SF Match in mid-August, and when I called them about this, they said..."oh, yeah, there was a problem with Cornell, we just sent them your application on CD-ROM yesterday."
 
3rd year med student here..wanting to go into ophtho.
my step 1 is mid 220's and I was just wondering if anyone with similar scores can share stats with me and where they got interviews?

would really appreciate it and it would help me out alot!
