Interviews, acceptances and rejections

indierockchick4, i heard I got accepted to umich HBHE earlier this week. the decision was available via a link on the wolverine access site.

When I check wolverine access site, they have two links at my application status page: "View application data" and "View credentials." Was the admissions decisions a different link?

No, I thought the same thing - when they post a decision a third link "View Decision" will show up next to the others.

Re: Harvard MPH

Really?! Did you inquire about a specific program, or did she generally say that decisions are being sent? Does this mean that they're coming via postal mail?
(I applied for the SM2 prgram, so perhaps mine will be different...)

I asked about the MPH admission decisions, which have apparently started being sent out as of 02/17. I was informed that all candidates will be informed of decisions between now and end of March!

I got accepted to UI Chicago MPH today. They informed me via snail mail.

Congrats. When did you submit your application to UIC? What MPH concentration did you get admitted to? UIC is the only school I'm waiting to hear back from. I applied to MPH in epi.

Received acceptance to Hopkins MPH program.

Does anyone have a good Hopkins thread on here they'd recommend?

This is a tough decision!!

I wonder who will be the first to hear from Harvard 🙂

I got accepted to MPH in Epi. I had sent in my application on 15th of Nov and heard back 3 days ago via snail mail.

Good luck!

I just now got an email from GWU that I got admission in their MPH in Epi program.

Seriously? Accepted to Tulane, Emory, and GW, but rejected from Arizona? Is AZ a better school than I realized or is the whole process just completely arbitrary? Funny, that was my "safety" school...

I got rejected from Arizona yesterday too. It was my "safety" school. I got accepted into Tulane and Boston U...still waiting to hear back from a couple other schools. Are you considering going to Tulane?

Actually, it would be my first choice if not for family. Hubby doesn't like New Orleans, and I have family here in Seattle to help with kids. But I don't have enough experience for the UW Global Health program, so I'm secretly still rooting for it 🙂 I have yet to hear back from the UW (not my program of choice.) If I get in I'll have a difficult decision...

You going?

Is that Arizona State or Uni of Arizona?

I'm about 90% sure I will be at Tulane this fall. I'm going down to their Open House next month to check out the school and city. I'm waiting to hear back from one more school before I make my official decision.

If you are wanting to go into global health then Tulane would be a great program. Tulane and Hopkins have great global health programs. Good luck with the UW application!

I just received an email telling me a decision had been made on my application and I checked the website and got in. Although this decision doesn't really help you future doctors cause I had applied for the SM in the Dept. of Society, Human Development, and Health. At least now you know they're sending replies out though.

Received 10K merit scholarship from BU today, as well as a rejection from Emory (MPH Epi). I guess you can't win them all!

Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting on the MPH side, but I've been accepted to BU, Tufts and George Washington. Still waiting on Harvard.

I got the 10k as well. I think it's just an incentive to make us go there.

Anyone know how I would choose between these 3, assuming I don't get Harvard? I'm thinking GWU because of the DC location. All 3 of those are MPH Epi.

I may not go to any of them, because I made a modest effort to get into medical school this year as well and, if I do, may put off the MPH till later.

Good luck with your modest effort and hope you get into med school.

Which University gave you the 10K?

lammoush09-

If it was me I would choose BU. BU has a pretty good reputation in public health and I know some of the epi textbooks that most universitys use were written by BU professors. I work with someone that got their MPH at BU and they loved it. Plus you got the 10k merit award! Congrats and good luck!

Has anyone heard from the UW Community Oriented Public Health Practice program? Tiny program, extremely low acceptance rates so I'm not very optimistic about getting in.

I was accepted to U Mich HBHE today. 🙂 I just happened to check my application status via Wolverine Access and there was a "View Decision" link. Now if their Epi department would just hurry up and let me know...🙄

Got in today, no notification, just logged in and saw the acceptance.

Congrats to all those accepted at HSPH! Please can u kindly state the school whenever u post your acceptances? So that we are not confused! Thanks. Still waiting on mine 🙂

Does anyone know someone who went to A&M's SRPH or anything about their MPH in epi program? I got my acceptance letter from them yesterday. Their public health school is ranked #24 on USA News but I don't know anyone thats gone there.

So far been accepted at Tulane, Boston U, Texas A&M...

The schools are listed in the title line at the top of their posts. I was confused at first, too. 🙂

Acceptances/Rejections:
JHSPH MHS in Population, Family & Reproductive Health: accepted 1/22/09 via email (then checked application status webpage via ApplyYourself)

Emory MPH in Global Health: accepted, via email 1/31/09

Berkeley dept. Maternal and Child Health within CHS: accepted 2/20/09, notified via email first.
(Pretty much, I was thinking that I'd hear from UCLA and Berkeley last since they told me they'd notify me around 4/15 but I heard from them both already.. was thoroughly surprised)

Still waiting for: Harvard, Columbia, UNC, UIC, UM
Good luck, everyone! 🙂 This might turn out to be a more tough decision than I originally anticipated...

For the schools sending out decisions via snail mail, are they sending the letters to your permanent address or your local address?

I got an email from the department. They said as soon as I send them my official transcripts, the Graduate Division will send me a formal admission letter. Today (2/23/09) I got a call from the department head to tell me congratulations on my acceptance.

I imagine this was a blanket email sent to everyone? Odd to have an open house for all applicants. Strange.

I think I posted this already in the Fall Applications thread, but I was rejected by UNC's Epi MSPH/PhD program via postal about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

How many people here have heard from Berkeley?

I'm waiting anxiously to hear from them and I just wanted to get an idea of how many have actually heard something. I've gotten multiple emails from them telling me my application is under review, but I haven't heard anything regarding a decision.

Anyone else who applied to UNC (Epi PhD) have a status update (a week ago now) and still no word?...

Accepted:
--GWU (Global Health): 1/21 via email
--U Minnesota (Community Health Education): 2/21 logged into website; 2/24 by email
--UCLA (Community Health Sciences): 2/14 via email
--UC Berkeley (Health and Social Behavior): 2/24 via email

Still Waiting For:
U Michigan (HBHE)
U Washington (COPHP)

I'm definitely leaning toward the UCs since it's in-state for me. Does anyone have any opinion or advice on Public Health at UCLA vs. UC Berkeley?

I would go to UC Berkeley. Better program... better brand name.

I got into UNC Epi PhD- heard about a week ago (last Thursday I think). I was notified by mail and didn't get anything by email until Monday. My online status had an update quite a bit before that though, I think around Feb 9th. I'm sure you will hear soon!
