Are there any statistics that point to number of interviews conducted vs acceptance?

I know that getting an interview invitation must be an exciting feeling, but that still doesn't mean you'll be accepted.

Anyone have stats specifically regarding interviews?

By the way, I had a dream that I dressed my service dog up in a suit and tie costume and when I went to the interview, I used him as an icebreaker. When the receptionist said "Ok, they will see you now," I sent him into the room alone as if he was the interviewee.

I waited 15 seconds or so and then followed him in.

Oh, to be a fly on that wall before, during, and after the interview. :ninja:

Just do your best and don't think about it. 🙂

Ahem. That said. It's entirely possible that I may have known that UMN has 3 interview days for in-state applicants. And I may have counted the number of other applicants in the room for the welcome talk with the director of admissions. And I may have known they had roughly 50 total seats available for my class. And so I may have done some math to come to an approximate idea of how many people who got interviews were going to get initial offers.

It's probably possible to do something similar at other schools.

But seriously, it didn't help me at all - I didn't feel any better or worse. So I wouldn't waste your time. At the end of the day, it doesn't change what your task is: to smile and market yourself as effectively as possible.

Pretty sure you have a great sense of humor and you should use that to your advantage in all life situations

Some schools do post statistics on their websites like that - how many people were invited to interview, how many were offered seats, how many accepted etc etc. But like LIS said, it isn't really going to do anything for you to know what the stats are. Just go in there and rock it, that's the part you have control over 🙂

I have nothing to add, really, as everyone else has already given you good advice, but...

...it would be amazing if you actually pulled something like this at your interviews. If nothing else, it'd certainly make you a lot more memorable to the adcomms! 😛

Agreed.

Why yes, yes of course.

I don't know if that whole scenario would be possible, but at the very least, have him wear a matching shirt and tie.

Well, naturally. It wouldn't be appropriate for him to show up in anything less.

I also feel this may be useful for your dog come clinics, too:
