Hi all,

after the first flurry of interviews, I am not getting anymore.

I know a few programs wait until the Dean eval gets in, but these programs have not been responding since then.

can they call me for interviews in December? When is the last date to expect an interview?

Now im afraid that the programs that called me prior to my deans eval will rank me lower after they see it. am I being paranoid?

I think my deans eval is fine but my class rank is low.

ugh...I should stop thinking too much.

by the way 8 is the magic number to get ranked into a program, right?
I got more than 8 but i'm still concerned. I really want to match!

Inhale. Exhale. Repeat.

Programs do contact applicants in December, even early January (depending on how late into the season they run). People cancel and reschedule interviews all the time, and opportunities do open up. “Wait lists” do move, and once you get off the wait list it’s a new ballgame. Don’t be discouraged if you get a late interview offer. The majority of the interviewers have no idea when you were offered the interview.

And don't stop thinking. 😉

Try calling up the programs you haven't heard from. Don't be obnoxious, just ask if your "application complete" or ask when you will know whether or not you will be offered an interview because "[insert program here] is one of your top choices and you are really disappointed that you haven't heard from them". You more than likely will get a few more interviews...worse case scenario is a program that wasn't going to interview you doesn't interview you

forgot to mention---call up your rejections as well. A rejection is the program initating conversation with you, not the end of the line. Politely ask them to review your application again. Again, worse case scenario is you waste a couple minutes--you are already rejected, who cares? I ended up getting interviews at the 3 places that rejected me a few years ago when I applied. Interview invites are often a crap-shoot depending on what attending reviews your file and what kind of mood they are in...

I have noticed from the c/o 2010 interviews page that there are a large amount of programs that haven't given out any interviews (at least to members who post here). I realize that several of these programs have a difficult task, but it's pretty amazing that they haven't even started giving out interviews yet - it makes it very difficult to plan things!
