Hey everyone,

Just curious to see if anyone has interviewed during a bad snow storm? In particular, this week? Pretty much the whole midwest and northeastern/new england states are getting hit hard by this upcoming snow storm. I have an interview at Tufts on thursday the 3rd and called today to see if they ever cancel interviews and the woman told me since the storm is supposed to be stopping wednesday night, and my interviews thursday morning, they more than likely won't cancel it. I'm coming from new york and the storm is hitting us before it gets to new england so I'm wondering if it's even worth the risk? Is anyone else in/has been this situation before?

Thanks for the advice!

I live in upstate New York and had an 8AM interview with NYU on October 1st. That was when we had that huge storm with tons of flooding. I was taking the 5AM Amtrak down to the city so that I would get in at 7AM and have plenty of time, but flooding caused me to be an hour and a half late to the interview. Thought I was dead in the water, but got accepted December 1st. Long story short, if they decide to have the interview in bad weather, they won't hold any delays you incur against you.

hey shark, I have an interview at tufts the same day. Been worried bout the snow storm too 😕. How are you planning on getting to boston?

I've got a Tufts interview this week as well (on friday), and I'm coming from LA. Hope my flight doesn't get canceled! Good luck guys!

Last time we had a snow day on an interview day (just a couple of weeks ago), the clinic shut down, but our admissions staff made it school to go through the process for the candidates who could make it.

And of course, I'm certain they wouldn't hold it against you guys if you get stuck and can't make it.

i plan on driving😱 it will probably end up taking me 10 hours instead of 5..if i even make it. what about you? where are you coming from?

Hey guys,

I'll be there on Friday as well, flying in from North Carolina. Hopefully my flight doesn't get cancelled! See you guys there.

Speaking of bad weather... it's a lovely -12 degrees F here in Denver! Delightful!

tip of advice... if you know you are driving in bad weather i suggest that you carry a shovel... if you get stuck you can easily get out.

or get a nice all wheel drive car to kill it.

in the outskirts of boston it's still a mess from what i've heard, in boston it's windy and slushy...ugghhh

Unless your driving a bigfoot truck you wont make it!😱

I just recently drove through some nasty snowy weather for an interview. I had 4x4 truck, sandbags in the back,a shovel, and tons of warm clothes and water. I was ready for anything, unfortunately you cannot bank on the other drivers. I had to stop and pull a guy out of a car who rolled in front of me. There were literally 4 or 5 dozen cars stranded on the road in 100 mile stretch. It was 2 degrees and not sure on windchill. The point I am making is don't travel through a snowstorm, wait until its over. Give them a day to clean the highways up and then go. Its not worth the chance of freezing to death. Driving in those conditions will only tense you up, give you a major headache, and distract you from your interview. My 2 cents.

btw the storm you are speaking of is a beast. 20 inches of snow, 55 mph winds and the air temp is below zero here. have fun with it, it lives up to its hype!

i had a bad experience earlier in january, my friend and I were travelling to a PA school interview and we wrecked my car. She was allowed to reschedule and she actually got accepted on the stop at her interview.

Be safe! dental schools probably will reschedule you as well!
