Hi,

I had applied the previous year and had interviews at six schools, but five wait-listed and one rejection. I sort of sent in letters of update mid-summer, but then this was after being wait-listed. I called them several times to see where I am in the wait-list but they're all telling me they can't say that, and I asked them if there was anything I could do to show interest and they said, nope.

I'm up for two interviews soon, and I wanted to know what I can do. I'm not sure if I'm just not being happy enough during the interview? Or if my voice isn't sounding "I'm totally interested" ... I'm pushing out my secondaries more quickly this time, because last time I sort of waited a really long while before finally submitting the secondaries.

Thanks.

There are a couple of interview articles on this subject, but the advice I would give is to be yourself during the interviews. You want to be a doctor for a reason, you have the credentials, now just put a face to match the data that schools already have. Be an expert on everything you are supposed to be, and be enthusiastic about your future. Prepare with the interview info on this site and read up on the school. Good luck!

Take a look at the Re-App FAQ. There's a couple of tips that may help you improve your interview skills there.

With not being happy enough - you don't really need to be happy; it's may be that you are putting our the wrong signals via body language. Try taping yourself answering questions and watch how you react.

Some people come off too strongly without even realizing it.

It always helps to seek some sort of "interview training" in this area.

This is not the last time you're going to have to nail an interview for an important position... you can always use the skills later on.

Hey,

Thank you for the tips. I recently interviewed at OSU a few weeks ago, and then a few days ago they sent me a status update and I checked the website. I got accepted! =) I really like the campus, too, which one of my friends took me on a tour. I think these tours are better than the "real" tour by the medical school students.
