I'm having a conflict.

I have an interview on 9/21 and I can choose to have another one on 9/22.

They are in two different cities. I was thinking of flying straight from city #1 to city #2, but I'm stressing myself out even thinking about it. I'd be missing 2.5 days of class, rescheduling 2 labs (if at all possible) and I wouldn't have time to relax in between the interviews.

I can choose to have the interview at city #2 on 11-10, but it seems like that date is a long time from now...

Also, I'm looking at spending $600-700 on this trip. Because of the short notice, plane tickets are expensive.

🙁 Should I just choose to have the interview at city#2 on November???

I'm stressed. 😕 :scared: 😱

I personally would like to have the EARLIER interviews.

I don't know how the admissions works at the schools, but if a late interview won't hurt you much, don't do them back to back. I did, and by the second one you are so sick of talking to interviewers about the same stuff that your answers lack punch.

EDIT: I'm guessing you have Texas Tech and then UTMB. The travel time won't be that bad by air, but the double interviews is an irritating ordeal. You gotta love tech for them giving you one date in september with less than 1 week notice and then an option for november. From what I heard from the admissions people there, tech makes decisions in scoring their applicants the afternoon of the interview, thus you have a bit of leeway in terms of getting close to november 15th with the later interview.

What time will the first interview end? How far away are the two cities? If you can get into city #2 by ~9pm, I don't think its that big of a deal.

I'd be getting into city #2 at 10pm, or later.

I think the first interview should be over by 4 (latest), and the next day the other interview starts at 9am.

That is not too bad depending on how long it will take to get to where you are staying. I had a plane get delayed for one interview and I got into the city at midnight and to my hotel ~12:45 and it was ok... I just had to drink extra coffee for my interview.

Sounds pretty tight to me. If any little thing goes askew, you could be jeopardizing your second interview. I would schedule it for the November date. It is a while off in the future, but it is still getting interviewed this calendar year, which means that it is unlikely that most of the spots will be filled up yet. Unless it is really your top choice school (or in the top couple of schools), I would settle for the Nov. date and allow yourself to focus on making it a good quality interview. Plus, gives you time to refresh, prepare, have your suit pressed (if needed), and in general lower your stress level (which can only help). Just my 2 cents.

For Texas interviews, does it matter when you interview since you have to match? I'm not sure with the whole process in Texas 😛

The good thing about the flight I would be making is that I don't have any connections. It's straight from one city to the other.

The only thing that worries me is being too tired for the second one, getting over stressed.

Texas starts handing out acceptances on November 15th this year, and I would like to have interviews as early as possible so hopefully I can have one of those acceptances sooner than later.

O yes, and MONEY. I'm running out!

Mmm...

I think I'll be attending the interviews two days in a row. I would much rather get them out of the way as soon as possible (since TX schools will start accepting in November).
Also, given I was able to move my labs and I don't have any major exams that week or the week following that, I would rather do this now, rather than risk it later.

Hopefully planes will run smoothly. :scared:

Anyone else?

maybe you can keep trying back and seeing if an opening at a later date than your current one and earlier than november comes up? i think it's too tight, but i understand how you feel with an earlier interview. still, with your stats, i think you wouldn't be very handicapped with a later interview.

if you think you can do it, go ahead. if i were in your shoes, i'd probably do the same thing.
