My hair is long, but I look stupid with a ponytail (I have kind of a big forehead). What should I do with my hair? I've heard it's unprofessional to leave it down.... but I don't have any other ideas.

I've always thought that French twists look extremely professional, and it's the hairstyle I always wear when going for interviews and such.

I would just go with what make you look clean and sophisticated. Hair down isn't bad necessarily. Just look presentable. I feel more comfortable with my hair down so I leave it down unless it gets too hot. If you have long hair, maye use a small clip to do it half up so its not overwhelming.

I agree, wearing your hair down is perfectly acceptable as long as it looks very well-groomed. If your hair is very thick or frizzy, or if it is very humid outside, I would wear it back (mine can be like this). I went on an interview once and this girl had frizzy hair that she left out and it just made her look so messy and unprofessional...I wanted to offer her a rubber band!

I have long hair. I used a barrette to clip back the hair from around my face at the base of my neck. It was mostly hair down, but I didn't have to worry about pieces falling into my face during the interview. It was also an easy style to redo in the bathroom quickly if I got windblown being outside on a tour and hadn't yet had my interviews.

go with pigtails -- they are always classy

Haha, I was wondering the same thing since my hair is waist-length and my ponytails don't stay up well and end up looking sloppy after a while. I may try the half-up/half-down thing and see if it stays nice, but really I think my hair looks best down.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I might just get it cut to shoulder-length. I have no hairstyling talent whatsoever... I seriously have trouble getting it to stay half-up since it's always falling out of barrettes and clips and all that.

Just don't do what I saw one girl do at my first interview - she showed up with long, stringy, WET hair. Not a good first impression! Please dry it, whatever you do!😱

How about a braid? Waist length hair sounds cool and pretty to me, but it might not be so popular with old white man interviewers... just a thought.
