Since most of you have interviews coming up soon I thought it would be a good Idea to start a thread about it . ( please try to type all the words/alphabet in your sentences as it makes it easy on everyone else's eyes and mind 🙂 )

it would be really nice if you could tel me wether in the interveiw they will be aksing anythng pertaining to dentisry ....or pertaining to what i have writtne in my CV
i would really appreciate it if u could throw some light on it

Hi Kosha,

from what i have heard from my friends, in the interview they normally dont ask subject related questions, it wud be more general. they might ask about ur experience, hobbies and interests. mostly whatever is in your application.

They wont ask you anything in detail ( unless they find something really intriguing in your resume ). They just want to get an overall understanding of who you really are, that's all.

get some answers ready about how you like the US and what you have done here. and of course, you should be able to defend anything on your CV. they might ask you about your favourite subject in dentistry and why etc.

of course, this is all what i have heard and not experienced!🙄

Hi,
It depends on the deadlines of the schools you r planning to apply.Some schools have rolling admissions even though deadlines are far off ,so earlier we apply the better.but last week of september is not late ,as long as the deadline is not oct 1st🙂
Rgding the interview calls i am not sure how long that will take.

as far as i have heard...

upenn takes about a month to let u know if they want to take u after ur interview........

tufts takes anywhere from 2weeks after ur interview (if they really want u) or a little longer to let u know whether u will get in .... (but for this year the 3 seats out of 12 that were left over have been interviewed for already is what i heard- so no more chances really for 2004 unless someone wants out).

columbia starts calling for interviews a month after appli deadlines usually which means by end of september...

please dont treat this info as facts.....all this is what i have heard from other people who have gone thru this process and not from the schools themselves!

How about making a list of all the common questions one is asked in the interview, over here ?

Why do you want to do dentistry ?
Why do you want to join " this " school?
why should we select you over the other candidates
what are you positve and negative points?


ok just keep adding to this list. This list will help you. When it gets closer to your interview date and you are drawing a blank you can come back here and review it again. ( pls dont ask me for the answers 🙂 )

Why do they make this question in the first place??? We're already dentists for God's sake.

I mean, I understand this question to a pre-dental, but to us??
We are "over-dental"😀 over and over studying dentistry again.

I know I have seen this comment here before, and I keep reading this question on some school applications. And still don't see a point in it......🙄

Seems like this was an excellent thread to help all those who will be going for interview soon.So an appeal to all those who have finished with interviews in any school.Please write the questions as henna mentioned.I am adding some i know from the interview feedback site.
1.What was most academically challenging?
2.how will you persuade a 7 year old to see a dentist?
3.Know all facts about the school such as who founded it and when it was founded??etc etc

Write about all your positive traits,assets which you believe are not usually seen amongst everyone else,maybe, confidence, maybe vivacity, could be anything. If you get down and start thinking you may find out a number of things and feel great about yourself at the end of the process. 😀

I got 86 in Part I 🙁 and have applied to all the schools.....will be needing your help a lot.

What should one say about the ques birdy was asked as to what else than a DMD can we offer you?

I dont think you are late .But make sure your ndbe and toefl official score reports aslo reach asap.First week september is good enough for some of the schools .Good luck.
