Just took my DAT for the first time. And I did ok, there is room for improvement if I don't get in this round but, I dont think it will destroy my chances.

RC 20
bio 15
GC 17
OC 19
math 17
PAT 19
AA 18

my GPA is 3.7
86 shadow hours
over 150 hours of volunteer/club work
over 250 hours of working for meals on wheels
3 semesters of biology related research (1 of them in progress)

What do you guys think? I think I should at least get an interview somewhere but the 15 in bio is making me nervous.

I applied to:
Illinois Chicago
Iowa
University of Nebraska (not Creighton)
Colorado
University of Minnesota
Marquette
Detroit Mercy

your GPA is awesome, but from what ive read on these forums, many schools seem to have a cutoff of 16-17 on the DAT. I'm sure someone will either confirm or reject my comment. But I would say your 15 being bio is something to worry about seeing as its probably the most important section.

I have heard school will put your DAT score and gpa in to a formula and it will spit out a number for a cutoff. I'm sure they do multiple things, but I am hoping my GPA will nullify some of the negatives of my DAT. I guess i will find out in the next couple months. Thanks for the reply!

It's do-able. Have faith. Many Schools will look beyond the DAT of you are impressive in other areas... Especially your GPA. My DAT was not impressive by any means and by the couple interviews I've received (and hopeful of an acceptance),I hope I can help debunk the misconception that DAT is end-all-be-all!
