I'm #29 on OOS waitlist, but I'm withdrawing my app, so everyone below moves up one!!

I too was accepted (OoS) today. My first acceptance, so YAY!

Congrats KardiacKiehl.

To the waitlisted--I'm crossing my fingers a spot opens for you.
To the declined--my sympathies.

Congrats back at you hawkeyepeirce ... it was a huge surprise considering I interviewed back in September and hadn't heard a thing since. I echo feelings for the waitlised (I'll be pulling for you) and for the declined (I hope other schools aren't so stupid).

... I haven't heard anything from them... I assume you all got snail-mail, yes?

hey if heard from oos where were you all from?

I live in North Carolina and I still didn't get anything today!

Got the letter today. I've been placed, I suspect, somewhere very low on the waitlist... 🙁

to those accepted, what are your stats/background?

Hey guys, Congrats on the acceptances and good luck for those on the waitlist.

I just had a couple of quick questions. Do ya'll know if Iowa offers any special consideration for legacies and what is typically the avg. MCAT for Iowa matriculants?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

BME/Econ double-major from Wash U

Don't know about legacies ... think the avg. MCAT is around 31?

Does anyone know the date of the second look weekend?

Dr. Mac, do you live in iowa? I have a friend who lives on the east coast that is waiting and we were just trying to figure out when he is going to get his acceptance letter (hopefully)!!
Yeah, i live in Iowa. I got my waitlist letter around the 8th of March. I live right here in Iowa City. Hope that helps

I left town Monday morning before I received anything in the mail (I have extremely slow mail). I actually found out I was accepted through an email telling me how to access the online service for incoming students.

For those that have been accepted/waitlisted..are you guys still able to access your secondary web page??

Yes. I talked to the office yesterday and they use it still for updates on your information.

I'm #85 on OOS list. Do you guys think I have a chance??

In past years I think the average for the OOS list is in the 30's and 40's, however, I seem to remember reading that one year they went all the way to #100. In any event, good luck to you!

Alternate list email updates appear to have gone out today. I'm now #6 on the in-state waitlist and I started at #13, so the in-state list has moved 7 people so far. I'm not sure how the out-of-staters are faring...

No OOS movement so far, at least in the top 20...

Does anyone know if they give in state tuition scholarships to out of state students? And if they do, how many?

Just wanted to let you guys know that I withdrew my OOS acceptance to Iowa today. I hope this helps somebody on here and best of luck!

Has anyone called the admissions office lately to see if the IS waitlist has moved since the email update? Last I heard (via the email update) was that IS waitlist has moved a total of 8 spots. I check this post daily so whenever you receive any news please update us and I'll do the same!

The email said they'll update us approximately every 3 weeks, so we should expect another update around next monday.

Based on my phone calls to the admissions office, the in state waitlist has moved 12 places since the original waitlist letters went out. Hope that helps

If I may ask, did they say that those 12 places were withdrawn acceptances or just 12 spots in front of you on the waitlist? I ask because I started at #13 and am wondering how much I should be freaking out right now. I'll call tomorrow regardless, but your help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

I just spoke with Carolyn in admissions and the IS waitlist has moved a total of 11 spots. I started out in the mid-teens and have moved 11 spots. She said she would send an email update next week or the week after that. PM me if you have any questions and let's keep this thread up to date with any new info!

Yeah, I broke down and called and can confirm that in-state 11. I'm now at #2! 😱 I also asked her if they notify via email or US Mail and she said we'd get a packet in the mail. Good luck to everybody and I'll certainly update with whatever info I can.

The instate waitlist has moved one more spot as of this afternoon (12 total). Pepper that makes you #1! Make sure to post when you get your BIG packet in the mail!

OMG! I may need to change my pants. Did you call again or did they send out another update that I didn't know about? I will definitely post when I get it. Holy crap. Thanks for the update RFR!

I'm in! I'm without words. I'll update with details later. I'm late for work now but I think I have a good excuse!

CONGRATULATIONS Pepper! In state wait list must have moved 13 spots total so far!

Okay, so here's the scoop. Yesterday I was in a computer lab checking my print credit on ISIS (University of Iowa's student online registration/records/etc service) and I decided to click on the link that said "Admissions Profile". Now I had been checking this link sporadically in the past few months just in case, but all that had been showing up was information about a biology grad program I briefly considered as a backup but ultimately abandoned. So I click on Admissions Profile and it had TWO links, one for the bio-grad and one for CARVER COLLEGE OF MEDICINE! So I click on the CCOM link and it says: "Degree Objective: Doctor of Medicine, Admission Decision: ADMITTED(!), Classification: First Year Student". So I start freaking out in the computer lab, trying to hold back tears and laughter and screaming. Anyway, I wanted to make absolutely sure, so I ran home to check my mail, but there was no packet. Since I knew it would probably come today, I was debating whether to wait it out another 24 or to just call and get it over with. Wanting to celebrate last night, I broke down and called, gingerly asking to "check my waitlist status". I think it was Catherine Solow, in an excruciatingly round-about way, said, "well, it looks like you should be expecting a packet from us..." (what kind of packet!? a rejection packet!? just tell me woman!) "It looks like you were admitted yesterday." At this point I thanked her very graciously, hung up, and freaked out.

Moral of the story: If you are a University of Iowa student on the waitlist and you want to know your status as soon as possible, keep checking your Admissions Profile on ISIS.

Good luck to everyone! RFR dude, better go buy that bottle of champagne now!

Congrats Pepper! That is so awesome! Great story too. I'll probably see you in the fall!

FYI-I just spoke with Carolyn in admissions and the in-state WL has moved one more spot. 14 total!

Well I called this afternoon. My OOS spot has moved 3 spots since the first update. The person I spoke to said to expect more movement around May 15th.

After thinking long and hard, I decided to choose Brown over Iowa. I can't even begin to describe how difficult that decision was, because Iowa is such a fantastic school. Anyways, that being said, the OOS waitlist will be moving at least one more spot soon in the next couple of days (I'll probably withdraw by Friday). Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Does anyone have any updates from Iowa?

Iowa's waitlist is moving..... Slowly but surely!
