I just got the iPhone 4 and was wondering if there were any good app for PTs and PT students that anyone could recommend?

I had a technology class my last semester that went through the different apps available!

For the iPhone:
*Muscle System Pro II (Nova Series)- View muscles w/ OINAs on 3D models

*My Therapy Exercise- Developed by a PT, 170 videos w/ voice over instruction, ability to create and save custom workouts, comprehensive exercise prescription list for consultations.

*Mobile OMT- Instructions for nearly 150 orthopaedic manipulative techniques (3 separate apps- spine, UE, LE), video demonstration w/ corresponding audio for each technique, common diagnoses or indications for which the technique is typically performed, and links to PubMed abstracts.

*CORE (Clinical Orthopedic Exam)- reference tool for diagnosing musculoskeletal and orthopedic disorders, database of almost 250 clinical tests with descriptions on how to perform them, video demonstrations, diagnostic properties, and links to supporting medical references.

*Muscle Anatomy- Origin, insertion, action, nerve supply, and arterial blood supply is listed for every muscle (good study tool)

Wish I had an iPhone cause there's some good stuff here. 😉

Clinical tools for the iPhone are also available:

Goniometer apps
iCard ECG
The Withings BPM
Instant Heart Rate by Azumio Inc.

great info, so what is available if I don't have an iphone? Will I have to get a new phone / system for grad school? Was planning in it...........thanks

Thanks for the info!! that technology class sounds interesting...

Ha ha, it was halfway interesting. The other part of the class involved getting into the nitty gritty about models and engineering type stuff dealing with robots and interfaces which wasn't too exciting. 😛

For the iPad:
*ShoulderDecide, KneeDecide, SpineDecide, FootDecide, and HandDecide- Patient education apps

*Muscle System Pro II

*Motion Doctor- reference and teaching tool for the consumer, 60 videos with narrative and written text instructions along with rationals for each exercise, with step by step how to perform the exercises and stretches.

*Mobile OMT (previously mentioned above in iPhone list)

*CORE (previously mentioned)

*Muscle Anatomy

For Andriod phone:
*Mobile OMT

*CORE

*Goniometer apps

*iCard ECG

*Instant Heart Rate by Azumio Inc.
