IQ of doctors

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I should forward the digg chart and my results to the med schools. Maybe then I'd stand a chance.

Funny how administrative occupations are generally as high as engineering. But then again, it probably encompasses some very advanced positions, too, as well as just your average administrative assistant (not knocking them down, having been one myself) - I guess a dean at a university is technically an administrative position, for example.

Sure more questions would provide a more accurate value, but this isn't the real thing anyways. I hope the value it reports to its test takers is close to that individual's real IQ.

The last time I took an online IQ test, it gave me results as 200+, Genius.

That's why I sort of called bollocks for free IQ tests.

Anyways, IQ isn't the only thing that determines your success... EQ (emotional quotient) plays an important part as well. A smart person that's as compassionate as a rock is not going to make as good of a doctor as an average IQ person that cares.

I'm not basing my potential on a free online IQ test, but if it was any indicator at all, then that would be good. I do acknowledge, however, that IQ isn't the only thing needed to succeed.

Even still, anything to boost morale = good.

Memorization != smart.

IQ tests are for idiots. If baseball can't stick a number to a player, how the hell can we do the same for measuring intelligence? 🙄

this test made my internet wang grow another 6 inches.

I was just stating that most online IQ tests are not reliable.

Just took it for fun... either I have grown a second brain or its a little screwy.... Since my head hasn't gotten any larger I am gonna go with the second option. 😛

I got a 138 a few weeks ago and then a 136 just today on an online IQ test. Supposedly they are more accurate than you'd think (for something online and free).

I'll take it when I'm not sleepy. We'll see how it matches up to the score I got on an actual IQ measurement back in 7th grade.

Anybody know how IQ trends as you age? I know it's supposed to stay consistent, but does it?

Well that might depend on how much drinking you have done since the 7th grade... There may be a negative correlation between a love of beer and IQ scores but seeing as how I like beer, my IQ may not be high enough to figure it out.

****!

By that response I take it that you also like beer... lets hope by the time I actually get to be a Doctor (I think I will be like 80) my IQ hasn't dropped to ape level. Of course, I can keep taking those computer tests and convince myself I am a genius (regardless of my actual IQ)!

Like is too mild of a word. Is there a method known by which I could mount beer and copulate with it?

yes, I believe its called a keg...

yes, I believe its called a keg...

you can give a keg a beej, but I'm not sure how you'd go all the way... if you take the tap completely off, the beer would go flat, after all....

Yeah but you would have a good solid hour before the entire keg goes flat... if not longer!!!

Yeah but I'd have had to have consumed the entire keg first if you expect me to last an entire hour.....

****, did I just saythat outloud??? **hick**

Doesn't seem very accurate. I scored a 147, which seems rather high for someone like me.

148. HA, I WIN!! It must be accurate because it says I'm a genius....

I took this one a little while back. I did not-so-hot--- 118. Seemed hard!

Test is based on Raven Progressive Matrix which I took as a second grader, anyone know if a percentile can be converted to IQ?

I used a z table with a .999 (99.9%) and got like 3.1 SD above average which would be about 145 IQ

133. OMG either I have some inner deep smartness in me or this test is messed up. I have never scored above 127 in other IQ test. Last one I took in my psychology class I got 127.

Besides IQ tests are not really realible are they?
Some people don't test well, while others get nervous and such. People would also tend to do better some of them anyway because it is measuring how smart they are.
I have never really trusted IQ test.

Standardized tests (e.g. Weschler's scales, Stanford-binet, Raven's matrices) have good reliability and validity as long as they are administered following the standard procedure. They also have to be administered by a qualified professionnal and also interpreted by a professionnal. This is why internet based tests are not valid nor reliable. Some sites ask you your previous scores on well established test (to test concomitant validity) and may ask you to retake the test (time reliability). This method is not scientifically valid. Enough said.

You may not agree with how the author have defined intelligence but these tests measure intelligence according to that definition and measure it well.

Yes, some people don't test well, but examiners are trained to make them perform at their maximum, and there are criterias that invalidate the results in case where the subject would have a reason for scoring low.

People also tend to do better on these test because they are interested in them but there are also people who do poorly because they don't like to be tested or fear to get a low score.

Remember that IQ tests are standardized, these parameters are taken into account in the standardization sample which is supposed to be representative of the population.

Anyway, IQ tests are mainly useful to assess learning difficulties in school and mental ******ation (e.g normal range and up IQ in a child who can't read by 2nd grade may indicate dyslexia).

The range actually seems rather narrow. If this is true, then where did all the GATE students from California go (130+ IQ for admission).

I swear 1/4th of the school is in the GATE program.

Although at the end of the day, IQ doesn't mean anything. IQ means you'll often be able to learn things and make connections faster than your peers. But it is hard work and creativity that tends to set people apart from others.

Thats why I admire genius grant recipients. True geniuses - people who took what potential they have and did something with it.

all of the smart kids must be concentrated in that particular area of california 😀. Maybe they too had to take a dump when being tested.

I wonder how reliable that thing is. I got 135, which I'd be pretty happy with if true.

Bragging about your high IQ is like bragging about the size of your trust fund. Both are inherited from your parents, and neither is the result of hard work.

Anyone here a mensa member?

I actually created mensa.
I wanted to design a club for those of us who are naturally more enlightened than others and able to prove such by scoring high on internet IQ tests.
I also created the IQ test.

I seem to recall a psych class that talked about IQ and what it's really measuring. I think the general consensus was that it was neither completely biological nor completely behavioral.

Now I'm trying to remember where I saw it (wait about a week or so and maybe I'll find it again and post the link here), but I remember seeing a different table than the first one linked to, in which MDs were only 2nd or 3rd or so among the occupations.... I like how these tables exist with slight variations, so just like with US News and all the other rankings everyone can claim to be, on average, the best ;P.

I think the better question should be how many doctors visit Digg!

that was, by far, the ****ing worst IQ test in the history of mankind
The questions were stupid as hell

and i scored 148 in case anyone was wondering

I was in GATE at my school but I don't remember taking any IQ test to qualify. Then again, it was a pretty loose organization at my school and we really only had one big event per year.

I tried the test and got a 139, which seems high. It's kinda annoying that you have to give them your e-mail in order to find out your score.

P.S. I was just bored and took this, got 149. In general, the more credible the test, the worse I do. Usually I do around 138-140, so I think this test was kind of full of it.

i scored 125 which puts me in top 5%, can I skip medical school and get an MD now?
