I'm an intern heading to radiology next year with a strong interest in IR. Currently on elective I've been invited by an interventionalist to scrub in on various cases. While I have a ton of surgery experience, the angio suite/cath lab is pretty new to me so getting this exposure is a huge opportunity. However, I ofetn find myself lost during the cases and have no idea what's going on. The attending is nice enough to let me in the cases but he's not great at explaining things.

Is there a resource out there that could help me out to explain some of this stuff? Even a tech-level basic knowledge would be helpful as ever catheter/guide wire basics is pretty foreign to me.

On the recommendation of my fellow, I got this book for my rotation. I thought it was a pretty solid reference.

What do you mean that an internist invited you to cath lab?

The handbook from the Amazon link above is a good one, but a basic introduction to the equipment can be found in Requisites by Kaufman. It's expensive to buy but I have no doubt there is a copy somewhere in the IR section.
