Hello everyone!

I'm a neuropsychology fellow working on my fellowship research requirement and am running into some barriers recruiting for the project. I’m aiming to recruit healthcare professionals and trainees who use the MoCA cognitive screener (across a variety of disciplines and settings) to participate in a survey about MoCA use and to score a few sample MoCAs so we can examine interrater reliability of the measure. Does anyone have recommendations on how to go about recruiting? Most professional organizations I’ve been in contact with require paid/verified membership to share through their listservs, so I've had difficulty reaching groups beyond my own specialty and memberships.

I’ve included the survey details and link below. I would really appreciate if anyone had any suggestions about recruitment strategies or would be willing to participate or share the link with other groups/colleagues!

I would like to invite you to participate in my research study to examine the interrater reliability and scoring methods of healthcare professionals currently utilizing the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) screening measure in clinical practice.

By following the survey link below, you will be asked questions related to the following topics:
  • Background Information (e.g., professional discipline, career stage, practice setting)
  • Experiences with and use of the MoCA screening measure
You will then be asked to score several MoCA protocols (with fabricated patient responses) as you typically would in clinical practice.

This research study has been reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects (IRB) at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. No identifiable information will be asked of you. As a participant, you will be asked to complete an online anonymous survey, which should take about 20-30 minutes to complete. All data will be treated confidentially and stored on a secure server.

Participation Requirements Include:
  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must be a healthcare professional or healthcare trainee who has used the MoCA screening measure in clinical practice.
If you would like to participate, please follow the link below. Participation in the study is completely voluntary, and submission of the survey indicates your consent to participate. Additionally, feel free to share this link with anyone who meets the eligibility criteria and may be interested in taking part (e.g., colleagues, trainees, organizations).

Thank you for your time!

Since you're already aware that most providers require certification, ask the MoCA people who is on their list of approved/certified providers. Then ask the people some basic questions from the manual, which no one reads.
