Alright, guys..I need some advice. This may not be the best place to ask this question;however, I am going to anyway. So, I begin classes on Aug 15th and Ironman Louisville is on August 28th (sunday). I will be app 8 hours away from Louisville. Do you guys believe this is doable? I would have to skip classes Friday and potentially the Monday following ironman. Also, during those two weeks that I will be in school, I will have to be training. Maybe a dumb question, but I want to know what any medical students/ triathletes think about this.

Thanks!

hey i did the same thing in 2009...there was one class that was annoying about postponing something but it is early enough in the school year and you will be tapering at that point so for what its worth do it....timing will not be as easy the next few years....

Go for it! I'm an athlete, I still do my thing. That is SO early in the school year, what you will potentially miss in 1-2 days is nothing you can't make up in an extra few hours of studying.

None of our lectures are required, but attendance at anatomy labs was mandatory and we could only miss three. My big problem the first semester was that we had anatomy lab Mon, Wed, Fri, so a long weekend for an event or a wedding was always a pain. Might want to check on that.

Otherwise- don't stop doing the things that you love or that excite you- believe me, there's plenty of time for those things if you get yourself organized. Life doesn't end when you go to med school!!!

Yeah, go and rock it.

Med school doesn't mean you have no time at all, it just means your time needs to be prioritized. I've had ample time to train for 70.3 for this upcoming summer. (between MS1/2)
