Anyone else having trouble using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool for the FAFSA? It says I am unable to use it because I recently filed my tax return. It says that it will become available 2-3 weeks after filing. Kinda sucks, especially considering the IRS only began to accept returns on January 30.

Do you know of any schools that require this option? I know some have recommended using it.

You can fill in FAFSA without the IRS Retrieval Tool. It's just for convenience.

I don't know what the big deal is to do it manually. If you've managed to make it this far in the application process to be able to submit a FAFSA to medical schools, I'm sure you can handle entering in some numbers from tax returns.

As I recall though, one year I waited the time period to do the automatic retrieval and it still did not work for me. What can you expect from the government eh?

hard deadline for FAFSA is march 1 correct? that seems so early... :scared:

I entered the numbers in manually. I just wanted to get it over with.

Really? Thanks for posting.. I had no idea.

I am 80% certain I heard this during a recent interview. I will just check but it kind of freaks me out since I need to get my taxes done asap and see if my parents even got theirs done yet.

EDIT: here there is a tool to use http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/deadlines.htm#

cali people deadline is March 2nd. Missouri for you medpr is april 1st.

2nd EDIT: check with all the schools you are accepted to and waitlisted at.. I'm thinking the recent school i was at mentioned march 1 or march 2 because that is their deadline, so send it in by the earliest deadline out of all potential schools.
