Is 5 interviews a good sign I will get accepted?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Your chances are pretty good. But it is very rare to see someone get accepted to every school they interview at. There are too many biases that interviewers may have. And lets be honest. Not everyone is probably going to like you.

That being said, as @mathnerd said, just be clear, concise, and likable, and you should get in to at least 1 school.

Yep, well said. I have heard stories where interviewers were absolutely brutal towards the interviewees.

Yea, this is part of the reason why this whole process is so hard. You have to work your ass off making a great app to get many interviews so that you can get accepted to at least 1 school.

Its insane if you think about it.

I had 6 interviews last cycle....+5 on MCAT, -.4 on GPA...went to 3, got into all 3. I bet you'll be good.

Agree 1000 percent. Not to mention the cost of flying and staying in hotels for interviews.

If you learn and improve from each of your interviews. you should definitely get into at least 1. IMO, getting 5 interviews shows that you're academically strong enough to land more than one. This is of course conditional upon adequate prep and professional manners.

If it means anything, I got a few interview offers. Attended 4, and was accepted at each of those 4. I felt my performance went up after each interview, with one exception. And I am not some crazy high stat applicant. I was just 100% genuinely myself.

TLDR: Be professional. Be Yourself. You GOT THIS!

Just saw your post in the acceptance thread! Congrats!!

Saw you got accepted 4/4 schools you interviewed at. You definitely rocked this.

Chances of at least one acceptance offer after 5 interviews are not 100%, but close: Let 50 % be post interview acceptance average, then (1/2) raised to fifth power = 0.03
Chances of acceptance into at least one school: (1-0.03) x 100%= 97%.
Chance of at least one acceptance offer in case of 4 interviews is 94%,
3 interviews give 89% chance of acceptance, 2 interviews 75% chance, and one surely 50%.

Even if average school post-interview acceptance is 30%, still if you go to 5 interviews, your chances of getting at least one acceptance offer is (1-0.168) x 100% = 83.2 %

Not too bad.

Not bad.

True, there is really good chances for the OP.

After one of my interviews, I was sure I was rejected. I did so horribly at that interview and stuttered through all my words, but then was accepted anyways.

I got 5 interview invited: NYCOM (NYIT), BCOM, CUSOM, LECOM- Seton Hill, and LECOM Bradenton. I plan on attending all of them. I did really well today on my NYIT interview today, but I am still really nervous that I wont get in anywhere. I plan to know where I am going by November/December to the latest.

lot of volunteer, shadowing and mission trip , 26 MCAT 8/8/10, and 3.82cgpa and 3.72scigpa!

I am really jealous of you, haha. I have the same mcat score 8/9/9, 3.75 cgpa and 3.66 scigpa, similar experiences, have no idea where i'm going to end up. I have only one upcoming interview and i've applied to 8 DO schools, which i was complete with in apps around October and Nov (december at the latest for the last schools i added in)... with deadlines for DO schools being around March or April, I am surprised it is considered so "late" to apply in like October or November. It just seems wrong because some people were taking their entrance exams and trying to figure out where to go. Now i have to accept the reality that my chances are essentially 0 :/

Don't give up hope, I got my last interview in March and consequently it ended up being where I currently attend medical school.

I think you will get some love soon, I was suprised I got so lucky, I got accepted to all the schools I interviewed at. Dont practice to hard, I never did and was natural! I think everything slows down during the holidays!!!

While you should get some attention, you didn't apply too broadly. Why not more schools?

Well, while working with my advisor she said that that should be enough schools to apply to because I basically selected only the ones I thought I would have a good chance at based on my stats and would be interested in going to....and that was the 8 of them lol. one additional one has still not sent me a secondary, and another additional one i did not choose to submit a secondary because i changed my mind about the school. Prior to applying to these 10 schools, I applied to 9 md schools, however, that was before getting my exam results back

I understand, I think I would have still cast a little wider net just in case.

Can you provide us with your list of schools you applied to?

Any luck with interviews/acceptances yet?

Just my interview at LECOM Erie coming up next week 🙂 No other updates with any other schools yet, unfortunately. Can I ask, how long did they say it would take them to get back to you after the interview?

Good Luck on the interview. I decided to attend LECOM-B, the tuition alone is amazing. Let me know how you cycle ends up, Im rooting for all the 26ersss!

Depends on the school. Some schools accept 80% of interviewees, some accept approx. 30%.
