Is a Pod Letter Necessary?

Is a letter from a podiatrist necessary to get into podiatry school? I did shadow a podiatrist as part of a larger experience at a hospital but I never got a specific letter of recommendation from one. Would this hurt my chances? Would it not make getting into pod school possible? Or just very hard?
