is an exam/midterm a "legitimate" reason to reschedule an interview?

I just got my downstate interview invite today and they assigned me an interview date. they said "Please make every effort to accommodate this interview date as rescheduling is difficult. However, rescheduling will be accommodated for legitimate reasons." I have an exam on that day. so would that be a "legitimate" reason for them? it seems like they really dont want us to reschedule. I guess I could take the makeup, but it might be harder so I really dont want to.

To me, interviews are more important than grades at this point. If it were me, I would talk to the teacher about making up the exam or taking it early. Most teachers are pretty understanding when it comes to grad school admissions.

sounds legitimate. i think a non-legitimate would be like....i want to go to the mall or something like that....

i'd go to the interview unless your professor is not accomodating at all. i don't know about downstate, but if it's a rolling school it's definitely to your advantage to interview the earliest day possible. and if you ask to reschedule they'll prolly push you back at least a few weeks.

I'd say a med school interview is an appropriate reason to reschedule an exam. But hey, that's just me.

reschedule the exam!!!!!!!!!! if your teacher says thats not okay then screw them. most teachers would be proud to know that one of their students was missing class for that type of reason. a guy in one of my classes last year missed a test because he was trying out for a professional sports team. ummm the teacher understood. there are certain things that are much more difficult to reschedule than a college exam. it would look like you believe that a test at your undergrad institution is more important than interviewing at their school. just my 2 cents. :luck:

definatly talk to the professor, give him/her your explanation that you have an interview at such and such med school, they will be more then happy to reschedule your exam. 🙂
