i am a URM with a 25M mcat and have been invited to interview at USC next week. this is my first interview so far and i have had 5 rejections already. i was complete at most schools by sept. 15. i really really want to stay in California because of family and USC is also an amazing school that i would love to attend. given that i have received an invite pretty early and with a low mcat, do you think i have a pretty good chance at getting in? and does anyone have advice on "aceing" this interview?

Hey. I think your got an interview for a reason and it's not out of pitty. Congratulations and nail it! I am a USC undergrad alumni, but not a peep from Keck as of late. I hope I can be in your position sometime soon 🙂

Enjoy the campus!

Congratulations on getting the interview. You may have a low MCAT score, but the rest of your application is very, very strong. They've seen something in your primary application and secondary essays that makes them think you have the qualities they want in next year's class.

Looking at the statistics (extrapolating from last year's numbers): about 6500 apply, 10% of those are interviewed, and 23% of interviewees are accepted.

To prepare for the interview, read the SDN Interview Feedback section for the school. Read up on issues that might come up, be very, very familiar with your research projects in case your knowledge is dissected (as mine was), and have friends "practice-interview" you, and/or go to your school's career center where they may offer videotaped practice interviews.

Congrats on the USC interview! I am also a USC undergrad alum who desperately wants to go to Keck for med school! I haven't heard from Keck yet either though. Like the above posters have said, if you have received an interview, your numbers are certainly good enough for the school. At this point, they just want to see if your personality and presence jives with what they are looking for. You have won half the battle. Just be sure to knock em' dead at the interview. Goodluck and congrats:luck:
